Livewell gained from a 4-stroke conversion?

Greg - I suspect many folks don't understand the plan well enough to comment. Not sure which plastic insert you're referring to and how that relates to an access hatch to trim tabs? Rob

Does Anyone Know What This Is?

I like Bob's answer. I also see what looks like a step pad just forward of the step up to the walk-around passage. Might that be where the more forward end of the outrigger pole would lie? In any case, nice job finishing it! Rob

    Purchasing a 1995 Spirit 175 CC

Pete: Our first Grady was a '92 Spirit 175 with a Johnson 90 on it. We used the heck out of that boat and had great times. We did mostly near shore trolling (1 - 10 miles out) and tried to keep to days with seas 3' or less. We made two trips to Bimini in that boat. On one return trip, we were...

    Tough question

Trying to be non-biased, I suspect that a Grady will hold its value better than a Robalo and an '02 value likely will not drop as quickly as an '05. Now, if I can be biased, we had a Robalo 25' CC as a work boat, and based on that I would not consider one for myself. Rob

Grady says F350 not suitable for pre-2008 boats

According to Grady, the 2008 models 232, 257, 258, 273 and the 275 discussed above are all okay with the F350. The change is the laminate schedule and additional aluminum bracing others have already described. Rob

Grady says F350 not suitable for pre-2008 boats

I received a fax from my dealer today that reads: Important: Product Advisory - Repowering non-current boats with Yamaha 350 hp engines. Please note this follow up to information recently shared with you by your Regional Sales Representative. Structural and flotation changes were made...

    Perfomance data on 232 with a 225 4 stroke

Larry: One tip on a 232: trim the engine up some when in reverse. Otherwise your propwash bounces off the transom and you don't move much.

    My First Grady

Re: Trim John: I probably don't know the best answer, but I would start out with what I perceive to be the least permanent adhesive (like white adhesive caulk) and see how it does. Then step up to 5200, if you need to. Rob

Worthwhile to repower Journey from F225 to F250? Suzuki 300?

I'm told by a Grady dealer (but not my local dealer whom I know and trust), that Grady did not change the transom of the 258 to handle the F350. The four bolt holes line up with the existing bolt holes from the F200/F225/F250, but there are two additional bolts, for a total of six, to handle the...

    My First Grady

    Need help on electronics selection

Lew: I also do not have a hard top, so no radar. But I did add XM satellite weather to my Garmin 4208. Garmin allows you to overlay the weather image (precipitation) onto the navigation screen. At the time, some other brands wouldn't do that. That was a deciding factor for me. Rob

Worthwhile to repower Journey from F225 to F250? Suzuki 300?

Rob: I'll tell you my experience and then my opinion. My 258 with an F250 runs 26-27 mph at 4000 rpm while getting 3 mpg in calm water. It tops out at 6000 rpm and 42 mph. I burn something less than 2 gal/hour at trolling speed. I believe you will find that the F250 will get the boat up on...

23 foot Gulfstream ride vs 258 Explorer

Bill: Our dealer put a 232 and a 258 in the water for us to compare side by side. Both were rigged with F150s. The dealer was fantastic. Both rode very well. We got into some 2' - 3' chop. I thought the 258 went into the seas a bit better and the 232 handled a following sea a bit better. Not a...
