    Boating after dark - options?

A basic Garmin GMR18 radar with some type of heading sensor is adequate. Practice during the day with it. Bring someone with you to oversee your piloting and keep you safe while you try to run the boat without look out the window. Slow speed. Airplane pilots train "under the hood" all the time.

SHURflo Diafram Pumps Model # 8050-204-133

OK. Take a picture of this fuse so we can see where it is? Are you telling me there are no other switch panels anywhere on the boat and that these pumps are hard wired? Pumps on later GW's have a circuit breaker next to the switch. How about a photo of switch panel? Bilge pumps fused not...

    Minimum Planing Speed & tabs

I can barely plane at about 15.7 knots, no tabs, twin 4-blade props. It was 20 knots before the prop change. https://www.greatgrady.com/threads/new-prop.32529/#post-216900

    2021 306 Canyon Switches removal

My switch panel harness had several Mollex connectors inline with the boat harness that allowed me to disconnect it. I did all the work to replace the panel on my workbench.

    salt water washdown pump

In response to both of the last two posts, one of the 3/4” seacocks has a baitwell pump mounted to it that shares a connection to a separately mounted wash down pump. This does not increase flow to the wash down pump and in fact takes flow away from the wash down pump. As a practical matter...

    Wash down/Livewell System

I'll assume it was working correctly before the Winter when you drained the tank. I usually blow out my water lines with air and put some pink water system antifreeze in my tank, pump it thru and blow out again. This protects the pump from freezing. That may have happened to you. I would...

    Yamaha Gauge backlight repair/replacement

Both tach gauges are fine. The fuel management gauge (has fuel tank level) was packed up today and sent out to Gauge Saver.

    Wash down/Livewell System

On mine the pump is accessible by removing the top of the steps into the cabin. Screws under carpet edges. Not sure how your boat is setup. Pump should be on your switch panel at the helm. Again not sure how your boat is setup. If the pump doesn't pressurize the water system it won't shutoff...

Replacing Icom 504 with a 506 model - Is the wiring plug in play or modifications needed?

I’m not familiar with that unit. Should connect with NEMA 183 or 2000. Not sure if plotter will show AIS targets.

Replacing FM radio on 2004 205 Freedom

Did you throw out a short harness to the radio? How about a picture of the connector in the boat. That harness you threw out that plugs into the boat connector is not available. Best place to find one is in your garbage can! That little harness is usually adapted to connect to your new radios...

Replacing Icom 504 with a 506 model - Is the wiring plug in play or modifications needed?

I have a Icom 506 on my boat. Replaced a 504. Don't remember the details but you will have to change power connection. Also I have AIS receive that uses NMEA2000 buss to exchange data. NMEA2000 will get GPS data to the 506. It supports NMEA183 but I would recommend moving to the NMEA2000 if you...

    Sending unit

It sounds like GW did make this boat. Problem is confusion identifying what type of boat it is to cross check to what GW built. Get some photos of the boat put up here. Also photos of the deck and pie plate access ports. I doubt it's a complicated as this thread is evolving into. This is an...

    Onboard battery charger

I have owned several ProMariner chargers over the last 15 years. One went "dark" on me. I had chronic problems with melting the fuse holders. Fuse holder problem was so bad you could hookup shore power and grab the fuse holders and they would be hot to the touch. The latest one is a ProMariner...

How far out in the ocean would you travel from land?

Closer to CM try East Lump, 19 Fathom Lump, Massey's Canyon, Triple Wreck Reef, Tamaroa, Jacob Jones (two pieces). Elephant Trunk too although it’s further out. For dolphin and Spanish mackerel during August and September try Five Fathom Bank, Delaware Light and Mussel Beds.
