    Upgraded Lowrance Unit

I tried to get the NMEA interface to my '05 F225 and was told they weren't compatible. Apparently, when Yamaha dropped the model year designation, is also the cutoff for Command Link and as such, the NMEA interface. At least, thats what my dealer told me......

Our new Tourney 225 - a few pics

    Parthery's GW history reads like this: '86 190 Tournament / 150 Yamaha (sold) '99 208 Adventure / 200 OX66 (sold) '99 228 Seafarer / 200 SWS (sold) '01 226 Seafarer / 200 HPDI (sold) '05 205 Tournament /F225 (sold) I've been looking at 225s (and 228s) for several months...and have...

Our new Tourney 225 - a few pics

If you go with a Std Horizon radio, the wiring harness has an RCA Plug...just plug it right in. If you go with an ICOM 422, there are two leads in the wiring harness...they connect to the two leads coming out of the speaker. On the ICOM 422, if I recall, you also have to go into the menu...

Our new Tourney 225 - a few pics

I had my VHF on the 205 in the exact position you are looking at, and it worked great. One thing you might want to add is an external speaker. I bought the small one ($25 or so) and it makes all the difference in the world, particularly when you are running. Check out the pic and you can...

    Yamaha 300??

I would agree...one would think that the F250 could be uptuned to deliver 300 hp in the 600 lbs range....which would be far more competitive with Zuke and the Verados.....

    Yamaha 300??

Nothing on the Yamaha website, but Ed's is listing a 300 4 stroke... Anyone heard anything? Maybe an announcement at the Miami Show?

    208 vs. 228 choice

I've owned both...although the bare hull weight may only be 600 lbs more, the 228 carries more fuel (either 92 or 148 if you get the aux. tank), may have a hardtop (this is a 500-600 lb difference), and will require a heavier trailer. My 208, with a full tank of fuel on the trailer, weighed...

help with repower on older 208

GW went to a thicker transom and also raised the height of the scuppers...if I recall the changes were made in either '03 or '04 to accomodate the weight of the 4 stroke. If you reach out to GW Customer Service, they can tell you the pros and cons of repowering your particular hull. You may...

    Electronics wires for 226??? HELP!!

In the bottom of the e-box are two drain tubes. When I had my 226, I removed the drain tube to the port side and enlarged the hole. I was then able to bring my transducer and power wires up to the GPS/FF. If you have your VHF in the box, you can bring power and/or the antenna to it from there...

    Dealer Referral

Newland Crocker = Crocker's Marine in Wrightsville Beach, NC. They were one of Grady's first dealers 30+ years ago.... now own 3 dealerships (Nautica in SC, as well as Morehead Marine in Morehead City.)

    Dealer Referral

You may get pushed to Beaver Park, because distance-wise, they are closest to you. I have yet to have a bad experience at any number of dealers that I have dealt with (Fish Tale; Vero; Play Two) but the one salesman who not only sold me a boat but built a relationship was Newland Crocker. We...

FINALLY--ended up getting 225--thanks for all your help

If you got the factory stereo, its mounted to the side, with the new Kenwood Commander display on the dash. I've had good luck with both Lowrance and Garmin...regardless of which one you get, go with the biggest screen you can afford as it makes a huge difference. If you want to put both...

    Robalo vs. Grady White

I too have had two 225s sold out from underneath me....including one this week. In both cases, they sold for only slightly less than asking price. You need to be ready to buy, and hopefully find one locally. In both of my cases, the seller took a local deal over mine, even as I was ready to...

    Tournament 225 electronics

Its an easy swap to remove the plexiglass door and fabricate a piece of Starboard to cover up the opening. I did the same job on my 226 and was able to fit a 10" screen in there easily. I've been looking at 225s as well... seen a couple that have basically devoted the e-box to a 10 or 12"...

    228 electronics on starboard

The Lowrance was the LCX-111 (now replaced by the 113) and its a 10.4" screen. There are some 12" screens out there now....and one of those would fit as well...there is plenty of room behind the unit. I installed it left of center, as my initial plan was to run a remote mic for the VHF...

    228 electronics on starboard

Don't think you will be able to get both a 10.4" and an 8" in there. Seen here, the Lowrance was mounted as far over as it possibly could go. I could have fit a VHF or a small plotter in there, but another 8" screen wouldn't have worked.

    Trailer for a Tournament 225

I second Curmudgeon. I've had Loadmasters from East Coast under 3 of my last 4 Gradys. Been satisfied every time, and the pricing was far and away the best. You can reach East Coast at http://www.newboattrailer.com

    Double Trouble V

The Double Trouble IV (my '01 226) has a new home in Michigan. Decided to go a little smaller this time around and stumbled on this beauty. Thus - the "Double Trouble V" - an '05 205 Tournament w/ F225 and only 93 hours on her. Brought her home from FL over the weekend and managed to...
