    Price for a new 226

I agree with Capt Chris....you are right in line, considering the hardtop and pulpit alone are about $6K in options. The last one I saw, similarly equipped, was right at $70K, but included a trailer. That was at one of the boat shows earlier this year.

Questions for the Really Long Time Owners

GW used aluminum back then.....they were either made by RDS or Florida Marine Tanks.... My '86 190 Tournament had an aluminum tank that lasted 17 years....I replaced it with an identical one from RDS....they still had the plans on file. Fit like a glove.

Post 1997 Adventure 208 Electronics Box Size

The opening size changed from '99 to '2000. A 12" screen is going to be a tight fit, even for the '00 and newer box. A 4210 might be a better option. I have the measurements somewhere...GW Customer Service sent them to me (they had a spreadsheet with the box openings for every model.)...

    Fuel Mgmt retrofit

I did the same upgrade on my 226. You will have to run the harness for the fuel sending unit through the rigging tube to the back of the boat. The sending unit needs to be installed between the fuel filter and the motor. You will need to cut the fuel line, install the brass fittings in the...

    Good Price for a 2004 225 Tournament?

Re: thanks Water in the fuel. While we were on the sea trial, we had to be towed in. Turned out that someone had siphoned about 1/2 the tank out, and dumped water in to make it appear on the gauge that the tank was still full. The seller wound up with a $1400 bill to drain and flush the...

    Good Price for a 2004 225 Tournament?

I just passed on an '04 225 w/F225 that failed the sea trial...and I can tell you that our agreed upon price was comfortably under $40K. For what its worth, I priced a new '08 and with a trailer, its mid $60s.... I know things cost more on the Left Coast, but my guess is that boat probably...

Have Price Quote for '08 Escape

Make sure that F150 will push that boat enough for you. If you can water test it, go for it. With 3 guys, a full load of fuel, ice, etc...you may find it struggling. From a performance / resale perspective, you might want to consider an F200 or F250.

    2005 228 -225HP vs 2006 250HP ??? Yam 4 strokes

2 reasons come to mind....the number of boats with a 300 hp max rating is sufficient enough to justify it, and 2- they needed to be able to compete with the Verado and the Zuke, although a 500 lb motor doesn't exactly compete on a level playing field with an 800 lb motor.

    2005 228 -225HP vs 2006 250HP ??? Yam 4 strokes

GW has basically quit offering the 225 as an option for new boats...reason being is the cost difference between the 225 and 250 is only about $700 or so. The new Yamaha 300 is based on the 800 lb 350, not the smaller 250 block. This is a shame, because I too agree that a 500 lb. 300 hp motor...

    just bought 2001 seafarer

I agree with Seahunter - and did the same thing. Sold my 228 w/ a bimini for a 226 w/ hardtop. Gave up the full transom, but the hardtop and full canvas package was a significant improvement.

    So Here's a Funny One....

Dogwood. do a Google search...I recall seeing something involving F250s and the "water in fuel" light coming on, except its a sensor problem and there isn't any water in the fuel. When the light comes on, it automatically throttles everything back to prevent you from doing more damage. As...

Recovering the 208 Single-Handedly at the Dock

I wonder if you might be putting the trailer in too deep... I've launched and loaded 15-24' boats by myself for a long time, and the key is only to get the trailer in deep enough to float about halfway up or so. Once the friction from the bunks catches the boat, a little bit of forward...

    just bought 2001 seafarer

The hardtop is great...but be prepared for the performance penalty, particularly on your setup. I had a '99 228 with a 200 and no hardtop...top end was 45 and would cruise comfortably at 35 or so. When I sold it and moved to an '01 226 with the hardtop and 200 HPDI, the top end was only...

Stereo/speaker location on 228 with hard top/radio box?

Here are some pics of the setup on my 226: JBL MR-3 in an enclosure in the upper electronics box. Mounted the ICOM to the top of the enclosure, and the Sirius dock next to it. For speakers, I didn't want to cut any holes, so I went with the Poly-Planar MA800 mounted on the hardtop...

    2004 226 Seafarer WA

If you are looking at the one on Boattrader, beware. A number of these "ads" have popped up recently...in the last couple months I've seen an '05 228 for $25K, and an '05 208 for $20K. If you look closely, you will likely see the same ad somewhere else on Boat Trader, with a legitimate...
