I agree, I would have them looked at preferably by a surveyor not a repair guy. While he's there he could look over the boat anyway, possibly point out other areas of concern. Always a lot to learn from a good surveyor. I have fender wheels on each corner, they work well I like them. Ozz

G-Day I've got the 300 Marlin and all I do it bottom fish....love it. The engines don't get in the way at all, the deep v rocks a bit at anchor but it's certainly not a deal breaker. Fishing 4 to 5 fellas is going to be squeezy with a few tangles thrown in..3 is perfect...but I'm fussy like that...

DennisG, right on both counts...I don't know how to taper the splice.. the splice is tight enough, the leftover strands...or tag ends are cut in nice and tight then glued so the spinning capstan doesn't pull them out.

OCNSIR I agree with all of your post, though I had to see it to believe it. I guess it's because I replaced the rope and it's nice and supple. What still gives me grief is the plait joining the rope to the chain, the windlass struggles to grip and turn it into the locker.....any tips? The 14mm...

Got it sorted just forgot to post it...I have 100m of 14mm nylon rope, I pulled 50m out and bundled it up on the shelf outside the rope locker ( didn't cut it )...hasn't missed a beat since. The winch definitely needs a roomy locker to work properly :dance

I use a wax cleaner after a few trips, maybe that's causing the issue by soaking into the rubber...the rubber gets wet with rain or dew and ... I've also noticed that the rain/dew is pooling on my boat where the sailer next to me is bone dry ?

Guys I found the specs in the manual, for twin engine installation Seastar 1.7, 9.2 turns Seastar 2.4, 6.5 turns Seastar pro 2.0, 7.8 turns Now I just need to find out which one I have, I'm guessing it's the 1.7 Cheers

Hello All I have noticed black streaks coming from under the windows on my Marlin. I assume it's the rubber seals but internals are dry, also I don't really want to disturb them. Any ideas anyone ?

Thanks Tucker I've counted and its nearly 9 turns lock to lock...which seems excessive...I'd think 5 would be suitable ? I am on THT so will post and see how that goes. Cheers
