When you took the stripes off was there much of a gel coat difference due to sun fading? It does not look it by the posted picture.

The last time I removed mine the boat was 8 years old and the brackets were literally crumbling due to rust build up. Luckily my GW dealer had them in stock. Never took the time to search but it may be worth it to look around for some 316SS ones.

I repowered mine with F250 4.2 L and I would not want anything more than that on it. Great power thrust but rarely do we use the top end of the speed range with the ocean water chop. Assuming your hull can handle the weight you will be more than happy with 500 HP.

Lewmar has printable templates for each model on line. Unfortunately I was not able to find a model that fit the existing hole pattern from the 500. So a little mote work will be required to install a new one once mine bites the bullet.

My 282 is an 2004 and looks just like that one and does not free fall either. The model is Horizon 500 and they do not make that model any longer.

That is a good deal. I wonder if the the connecting plugs were a standard configuration for Grady over the years. I will have to check mine as soon as the cover comes off.

If you look at the 89 and 98 brochure the pictures do don't look like they are the same- both have 3 cushions but the 89 appears to be longer than the 98 and corner contours are sharper on the 98.

My Sailfish gets around 1.5 miles to gallon on average. I would start with that assumption until you blow through a few tanks and find out what your boats actual is. Keep in mind that crew, gear, wave and winds can have a big impact of your consumption.
