    transom deck scuppers

I've said my peace. I really only wanted to clarify what the facts were. I'm good with what I've said and will move on. :) I was a little worried it was going too far off topic, anyways! Kevgle, if you haven't worked with fiberglass before, it's not something to shy away from. While it...

'Stang, I'm good on the gravity vs height of deck thing - you don't have to convince me on that :) No, I haven't changed my stance on things. However, maybe it's the way I wrote it or the way you read it. But, to clarify... I'm not talking conjecture or theory. -- Bronze IS more corrosion...

    2021 180 fisherman

There's definitely some "odder than usual" repairs going on... and apparently they weren't that good otherwise we wouldn't be talking about them ;)

Well, then you need to elevate to the Manufacturer level. But come at them with facts and pictures and try to keep emotions out of it... although I certainly understand your frustration!!!

Mustang, I don't mean this in a negative way, so keep that in mind... you're welcome to disagree, but you would be wrong. Stagnant water is not the same as still water. See the comments about O2. My, and other's, comments often come from years and years of experience and even from being in...

    Aux fuel tank doesnt fit.

OK, so then... the one going to the fuel fill is the main vent during filling and those fumes get drawn back into the tank by the incoming fuel. I "suspect" that the one vented into the bilge may have a small carbon filter on it. I've only ever seen larger systems with larger carbon canisters...

    Aux fuel tank doesnt fit.

As far as I know, there isn't an EPA setup that DOESN'T still vent. It goes through a carbon canister, first - but still vents to the atmosphere... whether via a thru-hull or a vented gas fill deck plate. A tank HAS to vent in order for fuel to be drawn out. Regardless of draft, I don't see...

    Transom Drain Fitting - 1991 23 Gulfstream

There's a new, bronze version of this, too. I'm not sure if it's Attwood, Perko or someone else - I can check when I get to the store, though.

    Aux fuel tank doesnt fit.

That blows my mind that a manufacturer would do that. Maybe they're getting away with it because it's an OB and there's no electrical devices in the bilge (although there could be a bilge pump). But I've seen A-L-O-T of boats and I've never seen that. Between the USCG and ABYC (ABYC is...

Customer relations at Grady (the company) said it was normal? Something sounds fishy here - no, of course it's not normal. Your dealer should be your advocate here - stay friendly with them. Just out of curiosity, how did you get your hands on a brand new 2021 boat? I would of thought they...

    Aux fuel tank doesnt fit.

Tank fittings are definitely an issue with poly tank. They "can" be put anywhere you want, but know you're getting into a custom job... $$$ ;) And/or trying to re-route hoses. I've been in the marine industry for over 35 years and I have NEVER seen a vent directed into the bilge. I would bet...

    Aux fuel tank doesnt fit.

Poly, in my opinion/experience, is superior to aluminum (not that Al is "bad", though). There's probably something else going on that's causing the smell - I've owned many boats with poly... and primarily see poly at my shop. Sender gasket, old hoses, etc. If you wanted, find a local...

    Transom Drain Fitting - 1991 23 Gulfstream

The part that matters is the hole pattern/size, not so much the OD. Is your OD measured with years of bottom paint on it? :) Do you have a shop nearby? They usually have these things in stock. Worst case, fill holes and rotate the garboard drain fitting and re-drill. Don't spend too much...

    transom deck scuppers

No, that's not stagnant. The water is constantly moving around a (relatively) stationary boat.

I don't think anyone said the one of the left looked good.

    transom deck scuppers

Disagree with what? That's exactly what I was saying = that those shafts are fine. ALTHOUGH, they also use sacficial anodes to help protect themselves - yet another variable. The point is, bronze is a better material. That is not opinion, it is fact. But "how bad" SS is/isn't depends on...

    transom deck scuppers

Skunk, that's a good point about the tabs. I didn't even think about that. I guess, thinking more about this, tabs are not a "sink your boat" item if they fail so maybe that's why they're not covered/discussed under the ABYC spec. And, sure, it's not like SS fittings are just going to...

    transom deck scuppers

I honestly don't know how well the SS would fair (or not fair). It's probably not (well, definitely not) something I would personally take a chance on. SS is also not "officially" approved for below the waterline. It's pretty well known in the marine industry that it's a no-go for SS. I...

Factory repair to balsa coring on a Marlin and impact on value

If it was done correctly, that repair wouldn't bother me one bit. Repairs on boats are different than on cars - it's not a fair comparison. In fact, it might make that particular boat worth MORE since it had a known issue professionally repaired. As opposed to a boat that hasn't had it done...
