    gas tanks

GW Customer Service can help with tank drawings. They sent me drawings for my 25 year old Islander. Brochure is a good idea too so you can see what was available.

Grady White 330 Express Bow Thruster - Replacement

Changing the tunnel is a big commitment. Don't jump in. Maybe find a Vetus that fits. I fish on a few high end boats. Whenever we break anything on the boat or fishing tackle it's a NASA forensic analysis of what when wrong. I would pull the bow thruster and take a hard look at what failed. I...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Forward tank back in. Some cleanup work. Alway some drama. Dropped three screws trying to get hose clamps installed. Got camera on them and vacuumed them out. Replaced fuel fills. New Perko vented fuel fills ship with an optional 3/8" shim. Directs water away from vented fill (which can...

Grady White 330 Express Bow Thruster - Replacement

I have a Vetus and it’s been flawless. If you switch tunnel size is going to be a big factor. Find out what you have then check Vetus models.

A few newb questions about batteries...

Check your battery charger and engine charging system... This is a basic system test that can be done with a voltmeter. A Harbor Freight voltmeter is good enough. Start here and others can help going forward. At the dock turns all your electronics on and disconnect the boat from shore power...

    Old Transducer What to Do

That is a Airmar 744 transducer. You should have a label on the cable near the transducer or on the other end. Dual frequency 50/200. The center section is a paddle-wheel speed and temp sensor. It's a good all-around transducer. If you are deep water ocean fishing it's probably not choice...

Please help me pick deck plate color.

Factory color is too brown for me. I went with white. After a while the sun will damage the bright white and it will be a good match. EDIT: Add photo. Ignore the dirt - working on fuel tanks.

A few newb questions about batteries...

Sorry but I don't have the time to play with all these "what if's". Put AGM Marine batteries in. My choice is Duracell but whatever. Charging shunts from each motor in the case of twins (charge 4 batteries). Make sure your charger can handle AGM's.

A few newb questions about batteries...

I'm using Duracell Marine AGM batteries from Sam's Club. I use the 34's for starting batteries (Yamaha 150's), 34 for the bow thruster and the 27 for the house battery. Great price and have not had any problems. Also made by Eastern Penn. Make sure your charger supports AGM. I'm using ProMariner...

    3 batteries to 2

Seems like a lot of work to me. I just recommended the Duracell Marine AGM's to another member. My thruster battery went this Spring. 5 years old. Did all 4. I'm using Duracell Marine AGM batteries from Sam's Club. I use the 34's for starting batteries (Yamaha 150's), 34 for the bow thruster...

Bathroom Door Locked - How to open?

Try the master key. There may be a small hole to trip the lock - if it's really locked. More likely just jammed up. Anything in the head to fall and lock it?

Indicator Lights on the AC Main Panel not working

Let's not over complicate a simple problem. Put a voltmeter on each light and check them out. It's not really that hard to do! Wire loose, bad bulb, etc. How hard can it be?

    86 overnighter canvas

I doubt you will find this online at least not one that fits well. Find a local shop. Or learn to sew! SailRite is a good place to start. That's what I did.

    New Electronics

The 943/1243 chart plotters are great units at a great price. The 86xx chart plotters are best-in-class units but are more expensive. I replaced my 943xsv with a 8610xsv mainly because I got a new old stock deal on the 8610 ($1,000). Garmin doesn't allow distributors to discount the units so you...

    New Electronics

A little more info from you would be helpful. Which boat model. Where are you? What kind of fishing do you do? Serious fishing or easy stuff? Inshore/offshore/lake/river. Photo of helm and overhead electronics box if you have one. I'm a all Garmin boat. 8610xsv, 8612xsv, GT51TH...

    Hard top repair

The hardtop on my 1997 268 Islander was chipping around the edges and generally looked like crap. I refinished with AwlFair and painted the hardtop with AwlCraft 2000. It came out great but was a lot of work. You probably don't want to go this far. You can repair with gelcoat...

    Fresh Water Pump Issue

These pumps don't have impellers. Its a diaphragm pump. Get the model number and look at a rebuild kit. Complete pump isn't that expensive. I give them a quick look and replace. Not worth my time. I will replace the microswitch when the pump motor doesn't run. I see you are in the Bahamas. Not...
