    Windlass

Finally found a pic that might make sense where it is for the solenoid. Also, stumbled on a pic where earlier I was mentioning the extra anchor line storage capablity if you open up more into the forward cabin hatch.

    Windlass

For the solenoid, I installed it just under the anchor hatch inside the anchor locker. There, it has the best access to the wiring. However, it is a PITA to get to, so I remove the forward bulkhead board to open/access the anchor locker from within the cabin, then can slide into the locker...

    Windlass

When I got the Lewmar 700FF model, it came with the solenoid. I had to purchase the breaker separately. At the time, I got the remote control, which I really don't like as it has a slight delay which can allow you to wreak havoc once the anchor is coming up over the roller. Think FLYING anchor...

    Windlass

Oh Yeah, then I installed the safety clasp and tensioner to keep the anchor tight.

    Windlass

This was the finished result and used some 1/2" Seafoam colored Starboard for the chain plate.

    Windlass

Hi Tom, I did not have a windlass when I got my boat so had to install from scratch. Installed a heavy aluminum plate to underside and also 2 additional cleats, port and starboard you can see the backing plates in the pic.

    Anchor Rope Storage Capacity?

I have 600' in my 25 Sailfish with 8 plait. Does ok. I did though drag about 300' down into the forward storage hatch to allow more free fall room and if needed, it will pull through from the hatch into the anchor locker. Check yours and see if it has the small opening also. There are 2 layers...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Thanks for the MOJO Halfhitch! Even though I was giving it a go at trying to learn to catch grouper, it was a reward for sure! Keep sending me more MOJO! Yeah, so that diaper  is for when my fish box is too full or the fish it too big to fit in the fish box! Had to use...

Forward Bilge Question- Related to Lake Erie Run

Jonah, see if you can find the original Grady Manual from the Grady site. Mine shows the drain tube routing details. Another thought, if you have a pressured water hose close enough, you can put some through your forward pipe and have someone check to see if it immediately comes out the aft...

Forward Bilge Question- Related to Lake Erie Run

A couple of things come to mind on this water subject in the bilge. 1. Just after I got my boat and was learning how it was plumbed and drains, the PVC pipe that runs aft from forward bilge was the only way for water to flow forward or aft depending on boats attitude. I got down in the forward...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Ok, that was strange, when backing out of the error, it posted above. Anyhow, it is posted! It was me! Chalk it up to user error! Posted the Anchor Ball in hatch pic also further up in the string.

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Halfhitch, I tried to post a pic of the first African Pompano I have ever caught when we did our first anchor bottom fishing and same day anchor was stuck! However, I am getting errors again trying to post pics to this site. I will check with Jeff if he can fix me up again. It was a nice one...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Hi Len, thanks for the idea on tying the ball on the rail! It is a good idea for days when I will be bottom fishing. Up here in NC, the run offshore is 40-60 miles and usually always rough. I would rather not have it flopping around, so better to keep everything tied down when making the long...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Hi folks, I was able to do the float test today. The 12" ball does float the anchor and chain, but you can tell it is a weak float at best. So ojt goes the 15" ball and it wins hands down! I returned the 12". I was able to actually get the 15" into the forward cabin storage hatch without...

    Windlass- Need Help

Hmm, just happened to find some info on the Marithane just after posting it above. Didn't find until just now: -Hand cast from an elastomer unmatched in ability to resist wear and distortion at high loads -Won't wear line or chain -More durable, yet quieter than either hard plastic or metal I...

    Windlass- Need Help

I think that is the same size wheel mine takes. I had a Delrin before and for some reason didn't like it. I can't seem to find it, so will pick up one this weekend at WM if still on the shelf and see how it does. Only $12 per their website. The Delrin is the white one and is hard, like a...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Thanks for the ideas Len! Looking deeper, I am finding the measurements as follows: Polyform A2 - 15.5" X 19.5" Polyform A3 - 18.5" X 23" I suppose that the inflated A3 at just under 19" should fit in the cabin door so I can take below and store it. Just don't think it will fit into the...

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

Halfhitch, that is same as I have, this 12" should be in the same neighborhood as the A2 you have. Fingers crossed.

Lewmar Delta Anchor - HOLDS TOO WELL!

I was able to check the anchor ball I have and it measured as approx 10" ball and is an A1 from Polyform. Polyforms site says it is 11", but I didn't get that extra inch in the measure, but it did have A1 stamped on it. They claim it has 29#'s buoyancy. I found that the Delta I have is 14#'s...

    Lost Trim Plane this week

Update, well I have to say that WM and Bennett came through once the confusion was settled in how to order the tabs. WM picked up the 1 day shipping (Very Gracious if you ask me! They didn't have to do that) and called me yesterday as soon as they came in. I was very skeptical if the order...
