    Kicker on a 228.

You definately don't want a 15 inch shaft. Prop will be out of the water every time the boat rocks.

Calling GW Model Experts- Which year is this 209 Escape!

A 16 year old Grady, sitting uncovered and neglected on a lift in the Georgia sun, is not mint by any stretch of the imagination. "The owner has not used it in at least 4 years that I know of." I wouldn;t be surprised if the batteries are dead, and there is a foot of water in the bilge.

    Trim tabs

Tab control is more intuitive if you have rocker switches, and they are mounted more horizontal then vertical. I just think of my switches as being the front of the boat, if I want the left front of the boat down I push the left front switch down. If I want the right front of the boat down I...

    Trim tabs

Dennis' explanation is the simplest way to wire/use trim tabs. But, just like the north up vs. course up debate about chart orientation, a lot of boaters wire their tabs to be port tab/left switch, stbd tab/right switch, I guess because that's the way their brains are wired. Make sure how yours...

    Heating fresh water wash down

You are an avid diver all year round, but you don't say whether that is in S. Florida or Maine. How many showers on a typical trip? For one or two, the Solar Showers work pretty well if you have good sunshine. How big is your boat? Take a BIG cooler, one with slots on the sides so that you can...

That's a lot of sea cocks! What does the open-ended clear hose between the float switches do?

    Cushion foam Insert plastic wrap

Not only does it make the foam cushion easier to insert or remove by being more slippery, but you can stick a shop vac to the foam, and greatly decrease the size of the cushion for long enough to remove or insert, and position correctly.

Hull Taking on Water - 232 Gulfstream 2005

No, your boat should not collect water in the bilge, absent rain and washing. Sometimes water can collect in places in the hull, when the boat is on the trailer, and what was a dry bilge on the trailer may become wet when the angle changes in the water. But, one cycle of the bilge pump should...

1986 Grady White 190 bilge pump mount help

Don't know about 1985, but in most Gradys you won't see the wood block. What you will see is a flat square or rectangle, that has been glassed over. The wood is underneath.

Probably for something like a cockpit table pedestal.

    Bumpers/fenders on a 228?

If you keep your boat in a slip, tie the fenders to the dock, and you don't have to mess with them every time you go boating. Carry two small ones for transient docking.

    Anyone used one of these?

You can go to a local fuel distributor and buy a small tube of water detector. Smear a thin coat on something like a yard stick, and stick it down the sender hole to the bottom of the tank. Water will make the paste turn from white to pink, or some color change. How high it goes on the stick...
