Noticeable lack of chatter on new boat purchases this year!

Agree with the previous 2 posts. There is a lot of psychological pull back occurring with individuals and business. I tried to buy some Christmas light in December and 3 hardware stores had no lights remaining. I also went to Best Buy and tried to buy a Nikon N40 - none to be had. I assume this...

1983 Seafarer 226 what do you think of the open transom

I had an 85 with an open transom. It was never an issue with back wash if that concerns you. It should have the fold down that is close to a full transom. I also had a Gulfstream with a full transom and bracket and although I never had an issue wtih the Seafarer, there was a more secure...

Cost of winterizing / Stroring 28 Sailfish

Yes they replace filter plugs and water pumps. The water pumps are done every third year. Every year I say I am going to do more myself, But once you get into mid November Its cold and nasty and I end up telling them to do it all. The good news is that it is a turnkey operation. Show up in the...

Cost of winterizing / Stroring 28 Sailfish

Anybody have the cost of winterizing boat and engines, bottom wash, shrink wrap, water pump replacement and storage of a Sailfish with 4 strokes. I was suprised at a $3,600 bill. Does this seem ball park?

Four stroke for 1989 25' sailfish

I believe once the boat is rated it can not be re rated and you risk insurance issues if you repower. Some boat could not handle the added weight of the 4 strokes. I had the issue with an 85 Seafarer. The dealer suggested the 200 HPDI. In my opion one of t for you he best engines Yamaha has...

    Bow Pulpit

I checked out the price on adding a pulpit to a 22 Seafarer years ago and it was going to be around 2,500 dealer installed. They had to re do the railing, move the bow lifting ring, repositon anchor hatch etc.. I passed on it.

    Sharks!!

Mine is more of a complaint. lost more pogies than I can count while fishing BFT. Darn dog fish are taking over the ocean. Amazing the amount of them that will surface too chase one pogie. Pogies actually can give one a pretty good run but when there are dozens it time to move on.

    Porta Potty question

I had a similar setup on a 2004 Gulfstream. The y valve allows you to pump out through a seacock. It must be in the open position. The y Valve gives you the option of pumping out through a fitting on the deck. The Gulfstream pumpout was on the walkaroud decking. Water has to be added to the top...

New member Seafarer to Gulfstream info

I have gone from am 85 Seafarer (which is still running strong) to an 2004 Gulfstream and now have a 2004 Sailfish. The Gulfstream is a great baot and the ride was far superior in every aspect. I had a single F225 on mine and for the mst part it was ok - not ideal. Carrying 5-6 people would bog...

    Storing Cushions and Canvas

I clean the plastic windows and leave them and the canvas installed on the hardtop. The boat is shrink wrapped. I took them off one year and decided it was easier to just leave them on out of the elements. They keep their shape and look great in the spring. The cabin cushions and seats I take...

When to do PM on the Thermostats / Water Pump

My dealer has mine scheduled to replace every 3 years. I average about 150 hours per year. A bit higher than some of the previous quotes but I have not had a problem in the last 25 years using this schedule.

    A Sad Sight!

You guys in the Sunshine State have it made. You can also take advantage of much cheaper gas prices. Our luck is the gas will be back around 5 bucks around Memorial Day. I should have filled it up before I put it to bed!

    Worst Riding Boats

I personally never had an issue with Jimmy. I actually looked forward to his advise. It was just the tone of some of his responses and the question marks that would derail what were very informing and productive threads. I used to ignore them but many would take the tone as a challenge and...

My first season with my Sailfish--impressions

I had my first year with an 04 Sailfish and the only complaint I have is the the tightness of the helm area getting between the two chairs. I had a chance to get on a Chesapeake and they definitely improved the walk through space. That is about the only improvemt I could see with the boat. The...

    2002 Sailfish 282 Questions

I have a 2004 - can't help with the forward water situation. It could be form the anchor line opening if it iis a driving rain. The frig has a pretty good baterry drain. If I go out to fish for a few hours I will turn the frig off by the know in the upper right interior corner. I have done this...

Access to fresh water tank/ 232 Gulfstream 03'

I used to have a 2004 Gulfstream and I believe the tank and pump are under the port helm seat. You access it by removing the draw insert that is on the side of the seat. Remove the trim screws and the hole unit pulls out. I had to replace my macerator in the same spot. I think I saw the tank and...

    232 Gulfstream electronics

Here is a tip on the Furuno radar if you want to install it in the the lower electronic box. My furuno unit would not fit in the box ont the bracket and I did not want it mounted on the top. I bought 2 6 inch wide velcro strips and put one on the bottom of the radar video unit and one on the end...
