    Tuna Caught Saturday

I did the same turned back around 7 30 when the wind was pickiing up. Did the same 2 weeks ago in 30 mile an hour NW winds. Got pounded and shut out. Not a fun place to be when the weather is nasty.

New Grady Owner with a Question

It sounds like a battery issue. The gauges on my Sailfish only work when my port engine is running. I actually just noticed it 2 weeks ago when I shut down one engine to try and save gas trolling and my gauges shut off.

    Anchor windlass usage

I never use my windlass to hold the anchor line. It can shorten the life of the clutch. Use a cleat. I usually retrieve the anchor by driving the boat slowly in the direction of the anchor to relieve the tension and the windlass soes the rest. If I fell it hung up I would recleat and use the...

Gulf Stream ride versus Trophy Pro

I agree with the earlier post/ I have had a seafarer, Gulfstream and Sailfish. You really can't compare the rides because each boat is so much bigger and heavier than previous one. Have no experience with the trophy to comment

    Grady or Mako?

My first boat was a 1969 13 foot whaler, 2nd a 1971 19 foot Mak, 3rd 1985 GW seafares, 4th a 2004 Gulfstream and 5th (and last my wife tells me) a 2004 Sailfish. All great boats, all had obvios differences but quality and appropriate sea wothiness for their sizes were excellent. I did hear Mako...

Not what you'd expect from GW

The last couple of weeks I was noticing pieces of ruting flaking metal near the sterm of my 2004 Sailfish. After poking around I found that it was coming from behind the bolsters. The brackets that GW had installed the bolsters with had totally disintemtegrated. They were so badly corrioded they...

    Marine head question

Sailfish Head system question. Yesterday i was checking the holding tank level and the light signaled it was 3/4 full. I planned on emptying the tank when I got offshore. When I checked the tank level off shore it was showing no light which signifies low volume. I noticed that I did not close...

290 page now on GW website

Does not seem that much different than the Sailfish. The overall length is actually less than the Sailfish - no pulpit. The beam is 5 inches wider midship and 4 inches shorter on the transom. the weights are identical. Fuel capcity is less than my 2004 Sailfish. Good looking boat but is it worth...

    Yamaha HPDI vs 4 stroke

I heard nothing but bad news on the HPDI 300. The 200 is a different story - a great engine. I have heard that Yamaha has fixed the issues with the 300 although I believe it was discontinued last year. The bad rep would make it difficult to sell if you were so inclined

    Portable Generators

Does anyone use a portable generator to power your shore power when on a mooring. I have been looking at small Honda genrators and have not seen one with a shore power outlet. It appears they are just equiped with regular household outlets. Thanks

    232 power one more time

I had a single on mine and would have like the twins. I have seen the twin 200s and it looks like too much weight the way the boat sits. Twin 150's should be plenty. Another option is a single 350 if you are buying a new Gulfstream. Whatever you choose you will love the boat. Good Luck

    232 power options

Happy dog - I had a 232 with a 225 and it was OK. With a full load in rough seas it struggled - most cases not an issue. I have seen the 232 with the twin 200 and it looks like iit is too much weight. The boat sits low in the stern high in the bow when sitting. Im sure it crrects when moving...
