    Hard time staying on plane.

Is the bottom fresh this year and clean at this time? Make sure the motor trims all the way down. Look to see where the stop pin is. Mid-range performance could be props. Call PropGods.com with your performance numbers and see what they have to say (no charge to review).

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Next is to investigate the amount of water in the fuel compartment and how the drains should be working. The boat has a long 1/2" PVC pipe from the forward bilge to the aft bilge. There are 3 - 1" PVC connectors in each of the bulkheads - forward, center and aft (only aft one shown). I need to...

    Spreader Light switch

I took the parts out of my old one and made a new one. DigiKey has the switches. See my old post: search hookup1 and DigiKey.

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Cut step. Removed remaining floor boards. It was a fight to the end - had to cut foam insulation off fish boxes. The real secret to doing this project is knowing that the step has to be cut and the floor boards above the tank have to be removed. The tank can not be gotten out without the 9" of...

    bow pulpit repair

Those repairs you see above in post #9 were done with West System epoxy and filler. You could also use an epoxy fairing material. Older GW's have a problem with "potato chipping" the gelcoat off the edges of hardtops, hatches and bow pulpits. Water hangs on the bottom edge of the molded part...

    bow pulpit repair

This roller is wider than the original. It was filled underneath. The front of the pulpit had to be notched to allow the stainless frame to sit inside the pulpit. The roller pivots nicely and allows the anchor to self-launch and re-load when coming up. The pivoting roller allows the anchor to...

    bow pulpit repair

I installed a 5-Oceans pivoting anchor roller. Search her for the post. Requires some glass work to widen the groove it sits in and to allow the roller to tilt down. Great improvement...

how to connect NMEA 2000 TO GARMIN

Search "yamaha command link to nmea 2000 adapter cable" I don't know anything about the command link buss or your power question. I plugged a cable into a cable inside my 2006 F150's and connected the other end into my NMEA2000 T-connector. I don't have a hub - I'm using old gauges.

how to connect NMEA 2000 TO GARMIN

Should be straightforward. NMEA2000 bus has terminators on both ends. Anything you connect "T's" off the bus. I run several NMEA devices off my network including two 8612 xdv's, Fathom GMR 18 radar, GPS 24xd antenna and Fusion radio. Not sure what you need help with.

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Previously pulled the water tank under the helm. Today started with floorboards. Floor board held down by a few screws but otherwise loose. Unfortunately the factory stripped a few of them and some can not be gotten to. But there were only a few of them. Sawzall and cutoff tool and got the board...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

I tried to get an answer from GW and owners on GG on the sealed fuel compartment. Conflicting answers. I thought the reason they did seal the compartment was to keep a leaking tank from filling the boat's bilge with fuel. Make sense to me. I have to look closer at my boat. In the aft bilge you...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Next day in the salt mine. Pulled hatch in helm area. Removed fresh water tank. Pulled the white blocks on the fuel tanks (4). Two from the cockpit and two under 8" deck plates near water tank. Prepped the fuel tank with dry ice. Got about 1/2 gallon of fuel out using copper tubing and my...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Got the tank out today. Going to replace it. Thousand white spots that are the beginning of pin holes. Left edge of this photo is the aft end of the tank. Two larger areas of oxidation. Couple of others along the welds front to back. You can actually feel the missing metal. Based on the aft...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Main tank access/removal: The helm has a large rectangular hatch. Haven't removed it yet. Inside the 8" access port you can see the water tanks. There are two 8" access ports in there as well. They seem to align with the blocking that holds the tank in. Water tank has to be pulled to see in...

    268 Islander Fuel Tank Replacement

Started to dig in and investigate removing the tanks today starting with the Aux/Aft tank. Tanks were pumped out using my automotive fuel pump. I then added dry ice (Acme $2/lb.) to fuel fill. Pulled sending unit and added more dry ice. Inserted a 3/8" copper pipe into fuel fill and pumped out...

Help with Wiper Blade that has the attachment that connects to the arm

This is older info but may help. I was getting mine from NAPA. Windshield wiper blades. NAPA 60-1870 arm and blade. $9.99. Blade only 60-1805 $5.99. Also Amazon for AFI 33014A arm and AFI 3101888 blades. As Dennis said you should be able to pop the arms off and go to a conventional ANCO...

    Trailering with Eisenglass

I occasionally will tow my 268 Islander with the enclosure up. To the marina or just a test run before traveling to FL in the winter. About 15 miles round trip at 60 MPH. Never a problem. When I tow to FL I remove the enclosure and use the original Sunbrella tonneau cover. This cover fits tight...

Placements for amplifier and new battery

I added a 4th battery to my 268 Islander. Similar boat to yours. The battery is in the forward compartment where the water heater was. It powers the bow thruster, windlass and the amp for the stereo. Battery is a Duracell 34M AGM from Sam's Club. Lightweight, high CCA and priced right at $134...
