1999 268 sink valve thread size.

I'm no plumbing expert but I have had issues with straight threads and tapered pipe threads. To connect to a straight thread you need a coupling with a flat washer - like a garden hose - to seal to the pipe. That white fitting may be intended for a tapered thread. Get a piece of pipe from Home...

Lewmar Windless Model in 2011 366 Canyon???????

Take ownership of figuring this out - don't let someone else make the mistake for you. Put photos up. Get a Model number. Take a careful look at the gypsy on the windlass. Look for some identifying numbers. Go to the Lewmar site. Call Lewmar if necessary - they do answer their phone (US...

Converting 12v fridge to dual 120v/12v

Eliminate the relay and use the breaker. I eliminated water heater and microwave on my boat and freed up two breakers. Could also try a different brand of the DPDT relay to see if it runs cooler. No idea how hot mine runs - its behind the fridge. Shoot with IR temp gun. .

    Yamaha Factory techs we’re wrong.

If you have the connector in the motor and if your chartplotter has NMEA 2000 it's simple enough and cheap enough to test.

    Spreader Light switch

Complete dome light assemblies are no longer available. I bought a few of the plastic domes with 1 switch off eBay last year and modified it to be identical to OEM. Here is the eBay listing. Says they have them. 4 lights per order $40. Other members may want to buy the extras from you...

    Yamaha Factory techs we’re wrong.

I bought the boat in the fall of 2007 with 2006 F150's. I did this cable addition and NMEA2000 interface to my Garmin 4210 chart plotter. I did it with a $100 cable that you could plug in and test with - if it doesn't work you may be able to return it, Lowrance 120-37 NMEA 2000 Yamaha Engine...

    Cooling system concerns

Teltales don't work well off hose connections. Best to tank the motor or put in the water. Remove the cowling and snake the fuel cooler out with 300lb monofilament. Pull the silicone tubing and snake that too. Consider cleaning and changing the thermostat too.

    Antenna Questions

Most newer Garmin units have built in GPS antenna. Post model number or look it up. The GPS 17x is a good basic GPS. The 19x is NMEA200. I have a GPS 24xd which has NMEA2000, expanded satellite system coverage and a heading sensor. Mine is mounted directly on the hardtop (no mast). I busted my...

You only need the NEMA2000 or J1928 cable. Interface already in the motor. Make sure your Garmin has one or the other.

The tank valves on mine look crapped up too. Give them a WD-40 spray and wipe them down. Use them a bit. They should be fine.

    EVA Decking on the cheap

Wishful thinking! Doesn't look like a seagull to me. Had them on the boat Jan '22 in the Keys. Someone left a open bag of Cheetos tortia chips on the boat. Probably the cheese and oil combination kept it coming back. I put small and large traps out inside the boat and around the helm. It would...

    Yamaha Factory techs we’re wrong.

I have 2006 F150's. Using old gauges. Blue connector was in the motor. Ordered two cables and pulled them. Installed NMEA2000 backbone. Connected motors and chart plotters. I now have engine information displayed on my Garmin 8612/8610...

'87 232 Gulfstream with twins and dual fuel tanks

Have you tried putting fuel in the Aux tank? Are you sure it's full? You could be having a problem with that gauge. The valve in the middle will pull "air" from the empty tank. It's has no way of knowing that it should pull from the other tank. Do you have SeaTow or BoatUS? If you run them dry...

I use the valves quite a bit in the winter when I'm actively using the boat. I fill both of my tanks up (72 and 134 gallon) and run one motor off of each tank. Keep an eye on the fuel levels and make sure the fuel gauges work properly. As my trip progresses I turn the fuel over in the aux tank a...
