    bolster foam

SailRite is a good source. Most people use the less expensive foams. Wrap the foam in a thin plastic Cushion Wrap silk plastic before installing (Sailrite). This will help keep water out. There are lots of staples in them. Husky 4" tack puller from Home Depot. Stainless staples are a must...

    265X fuel tank replacement

SkunkBoat can certainly tell how difficult the tanks will be to remove. On my 268 Islander the aft aux tank is easy-it lifts out. The forward main tank is difficult. Two bulkheads have to be cut out and the step notched.

The two on the transom are obvious. The left one connects to the top of the trim tab pocket in the Eurotransom.

Have you read the 181 comments on TowBoatUS Barnegate? They didn't seem to know why it sank. If it bothers you that much call them. If it were a drain plug - something they probably check first - they would have commented on stupid boater mistake. Plenty of other possible reasons this boat went...

Long thread on BoatUS. 180+ posts. Boat drifted for several days before being recovered. Apparently someone attempted a salvage. How it took on water was not known. https://www.facebook.com/TowBoatUSBarnegatLight/

High water in the bilge is one of my big concerns with my Grady. It could get ahead of me before I realize I have a problem. High water alarm is on my Summer project list. I have LED lights next to my bilge switches but its not enough.

    Hypothetically..would you rather

Tow vehicle is a big factor in trading up. My new F150 towing limit 11,600 lbs. I have a 268 Islander that I absolutely love. 8' 6" beam. They are basically a narrow beam Sailfish. The 270 Islander is similar and newer. To upgrade to the boats you listed you are probably going to need a new...

    Core Replacement Guide?

Thank is likely original. Board under the deck may have been put there by PO to stiffen it up. Tank covered in black mold. Don't see a core. You can tell it it has one by how thick it is. Usually cored with 1/2" material. If not consider adding one. Those glassed in cross pieces are wood...

Great video. Captain of rescue vessel was eye witness "I looked, their boat, Jesus' boat, literally started sinking at the stern, and literally two seconds later, it just flipped right over, and all these guys went right in the water." After they were rescued the Captain gave them fishing rods...

    Sea Star Steering Troubleshooting

I'm not sure your problem is bleeding. I would call Mavi Mare tech support or their representative here in the USA. Difficult to explain without being there. Anyway the idea is to push all the fluid out of one side of the cylinder. Then do the other side. It's best that you understand what is...

    Sea Star Steering Troubleshooting

I'm not familiar with Mavi Mare system. Did you just replace the helm pump and cylinder with the Mavi Mare system GF150 BRT? Did you do hoses too? I see that they have different HP rated units. Is yours sized right?

    Fuel Tank Replacement

Patriot Marine or SP Tanks both in NJ. They will give you a quote and build tanks. Not sure they will install. Young's Fiberglass will install the tanks but I don't have a quote. Sometimes they have to do some fiberglass removal to get the hoses run or tanks out...

    Sea Star Steering Troubleshooting

How hard is hard? Does this only happen when you are reversing direction? Turning hard is probably not the cylinder. I suspect air in the helm pump or a problem with the valves in the helm pump. Let's see what other members think. With motor disconnected from the linkage does make sure the...
