Help! Mounting radar on hardtop - Sailfish

I did a lot of research on this and looked at a lot of boats in marinas and on lots as well as discussed affects. For me, I was hitting trees constantly with original mount on pedestal. So needed to lower it. I was running right at 13'6" limit on trailer with pedestal. I removed pedestal...

    Fuel Tank Sensor

One trick I have learned messing with aluminum threads and SS screws/bolts is to put pressure to loosen, then tighten ever so slightly to solicit some movement. If you get it to move, do small turns counter clockwise and clockwise, working back and forth until it seems to free up. This is...

    Broken horn?

YOu can go either way with cost, but my horn is only 3 years old. Back in the winter I pulled it off and opened and treated with the rust stop and it still is coming and getting worse. I don't want to have to replace horns every few years. This removal, reseal, rewire, etc is a pita sometimes so...

    Grady White Fuel Tank

Like JBrinch said, pull the sender, siphon out the fuel and look in there with a flashlight. Try to get all the debris out and see the condition of the inside of the tank. Once cleaned out, install a new filter. Lots of us using the HPDI's are using the 2 micron Racors S3220SUL to prevent the...

    Anchor Swivel issues

Anchor enhancements continue. For those of you out there like me where the anchor is always getting jambed up on the shank.....Lately, it has been a nightmare for me as the anchor comes up sideways due to swivel getting jambed on the shank. 2 weeks ago, it apparently was jambed when anchored and...

Fresh water system clog...how to unclog the tank fitting?

Re: Fresh water system clog...how to unclog the tank fitting Got it, just would stick my cell phone in there and snap a shot. No need to put your head in...lol. Anyway, if you can remove the hose, you should have direct access to the fitting and poke a wire in there. Not sure size of fitting...

    Restoring Plastic Curtains

I tried to restore my originals. I used flitz and buff ball also. Does it work? Yes. Does it last, no. I tried other plastic polishes as well, but in all cases, it looked better than before, but over some weeks, would start to fade again. Lots of work. Got tired of it and wanted a clear view, so...

    Broken horn?

I had replaced mine 3 years ago and got the ones from WM. I think that they are from Ongaro and just branded for WM. Anyhow, they are rusting internally and the rust is dripping out on the gelcoat now. I am sure over time, they will fail from rust out. I found through a lot of searching and...

Fresh water system clog...how to unclog the tank fitting?

Re: Fresh water system clog...how to unclog the tank fitting Hard to imagine this. Pics would be much better to understand.

    Fuel Tank Sensor

Time to test the wiring and switch. If you disconnect the wire terminal from fuel gauge, does it remain the same? Check the ground also to make sure it is grounded. Not just the tab on the tank, but from the tank to the battery. Make up a test wire and run it from the tank to the switch and...

    Fuel Tank Sensor

If you already have a WEMA installed, it might reveal the length already. Here is mine and it was 16" you can see in pic. Also, good point to get the screw and seal kit. Viton should be good. Just not standard rubber.

    Fuel Tank Sensor

Should be exactly same. I have never found this to be an issue. There is an orientation for them, so you just spin it until all the holes line up.

    Fuel Tank Sensor

I was told the rubber ones are what causes the aluminum corrosion due to the carbon content in the rubber reacts. Every time I had one with rubber, it was corroded, so used cork now for a few years and a couple times when removed, no additional corrosion. Just a thought.

If I recall, I had to request the cork gaskets and don't recall if I ended up getting them from WEMA or elsewhere.

    1986 sailfish Live well overflow

I replaced my thru hulls which included the hose to the livewell drain. We were able to get in there like you mentioned by removing the bulkhead in the under deck berth. Later, I was able to replace the drain for the livewell as it had cracked. I accessed this through the deck plate already...

    Fuel Tank Sensor

Assuming you have an aluminum tank, good idea to pull floor panel, clean up real good and inspect. Sometimes, the wires are not so bad, but need new terminal connectors that you heat shrink with a heat gun. No fumes please during this part. I replaced mine with WEMA brand and they work great...

My bow pulpit chewed through my rode

File it smooth just for prevention issues in the future. Interesting they made the comment never had to install another cleat. When I installed my windlass, there was no cleat to tie off to. Had to install 2 of them, one to each side to be used either for the dock line or tie off windlass. It...

    Raw water washdown pump prime?

Would recommend disconnecting the hose that is leading to your pump and force some water backwards to backflush the line and see if anything is clogging it. If not, then time for a new pump. Make sure seacock is fully operational as well. I had one that the handle would turn, but the ball was...

    adding left wiper

When I look at the way mine are installed, it would seem it is not a real difficult thing to do. You can measure the location of your existing wiper motor where it comes through the hull on the outside and find that same equivalent spot on the opposite side, then drill the hole per the motor...

    Yamaha 250 four stroke issue

So this sounds like a seal was compromised. Sounds like it might have been the dreaded seal/shaft issue I had read on another post on these motors. Was not clear on what shaft that was ,but sounds like crankshaft seal. Would think it would show some oil leakage signs if that was the case though.
