    Seafarer outrigger installation

I had considered that, but somewhere a while back I got some feedback that they were not holding up well over time. I don't recall the details, but it was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth about them. Sorry I could not recall, but something to do with fading badly in the sun and some...

    Seafarer outrigger installation

I was in WM this past weekend and picked up a pair of 1-1/2" outrigger poles. Dang those are so much heavier than my 1-1/8" poles. It is a whole other league in regards to weight. I was considering to switch over to the 1-1/2" size next time once I wear these out and maybe go for the 18'ers...

    Livewell Pump Installation Question

Yeah, for some it is easy enough. For me, it was way worth it in the end. The location of mine was I guess simple enough, but mostly had to get down on my knees, imaging wet deck sliding in 4' seas, sticking my arm and half my head in the back access hatch, try not to break off my head at the...

    Seafarer outrigger installation

Thanks for the pics! Interesting how the solder spot worked out next to pipe. Convenient and should help with the movement considerably. Let us know how it works out!

    Livewell Pump Installation Question

Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I also put in a 3 way tee fitting with extra hose and shut off valve. I can use this hose to pull out of bilge, stick into a gallon jug of pink stuff and suck it in and winterize. That worked great and was so easy to winterize, I amazed myself! Of course, that does...

    Livewell Pump Installation Question

While direct connect is simple, it does not allow for a pre filter. Last season, I added a 2nd shurflo problaster so I could dedicate the Shurflo bait pump for the livewell and have on demand pressure for washdown. I added the prefilter inline after the thru hull and before the split off to both...

how far off are these motor results

I for sure would get some newer fresh fuel in there before changing timing and other stuff. Use 87 octane and not premium so you can get more combustion/power and less carbon build up. Then tweek out the timing, etc. Many times the older fuel can cause loss of power.

    1999 Sailfish Paint Chipping

Like seasick mentioned, on hardtop, edges mostly due to water freezing and chipping/lifting the gelcoat edges. Fairly simple to fix. Chip out all loose material, sand with 80 grit to rough it up. Assuming very thin chipping, you can apply Grady Gelcoat with a brush. Use a very fine haired...

What props do you run Sailfish w/200's?

I have the Yamaha SWSII 17" pitch now. I get 49mph top end at approx. 5800rpm's. Overall, they are great. However, after some discussions with Ken at Propgods, he recommends trying some Powertech OFS4's 4 blades to give me some stern lift and possibly better cruise economy. Very possible to...

    self launch anchor roller

That is exactly what I was going to end up doing if I could not resolve my self launch issue, but I was able to add some weights to the anchor and use the original pulpit roller design and make it work. Has not been an issue since. I have some other posts on here you might have already seen...

    Fuel gauge/sender problems

I don't think you can go wrong with the WEMA design! Yes, it is the SeaV2 design. This boat is great in all aspects. Easy to handle, easy to get to any part of the boat and is a very good ride even in rough seas! Fishing is excellent and we constantly run out 50-60 miles and back. The...

    Fuel gauge/sender problems

Just another vote for the WEMA. Out of all the years of replacing fuel sending units, these are the best designed in my opinion and are the most stable. If boat is rocking around, they don't fluctuate. There is no adjustment needed if you order the correct length. My main gauge went after first...

    REgelcoating?

I stripped the bottom paint off my hull and re-gel coated and it came out great. 3rd year now and all is still good! Since, I have re-gelcoated most all hatches, bow pulpit and lower transom under bracket where bottom paint was. No issues so far. Lots of reading on this with lots of folks...

    intermittent wiper control/switch

I went the cheaper route and absolutely one of the best mod's I have done. Use the intermittent constantly and don't have to worry about switching off/on manually in rough seas. Link to my post with pics. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=12475&hilit=+wiper&start=30

Advice needed - re-installing aluminum fuel tanks in GW 252

Re: Advice needed - re-installing aluminum fuel tanks in GW There are some posts on this site or maybe on THT that I did when I restored my tanks and re-installed. Basically, I followed Pascoe's process. Bond PVC strips on bottom with 5200, then coat tanks with Coal Tar Epoxy. Then I...

272 With Heat Damage, Worth It?

I would consider just using GelCoat. I have purchased over 2 gallons from Grady using my original VIN number and the match came out very good! It can be blended with someone that knows how to do that and I doubt you would notice it much.

    Seafarer outrigger installation

I installed gunnel mounts on my boat and no issue. Really like them and easy to work with. Sure, would love to put on hardtop, but those are more expensive and require the welded mounts. Removal of wires and hardtop is not happening. I saw some Grady's on lots for sale that had the hardtop...

    1990 Marlin Complete Rehab Complete

Really excellent transition! That was a lot of labor of love for sure! She looks great! :D A couple of questionsthoughts... 1. The In-line fuel filters look to be below deck. Isn't that going to be difficult to change out or monitor as these are normal maintenance items.....assuming that the...
