An Interesting Sales Technique other boat builders use

It is not insecurity. It is one thing in my opinion for a guy who just bought a boat thinking it is the bees knees, goes to the Hull Truth and finds out his boat is average or what ever. Then a bunch of people rip him for buying it. To me it is something all together different when you are...

An Interesting Sales Technique other boat builders use

Hey Yall: I was traveling last week to Florida and back for the kids spring break. Got to splash the boat a few times and left it there as I am going back down for a guys fishing trip at the end of the month. On the way back, I stopped by my daughters long distance boy friend's house and he...

the land of Grady White has been found

In my travels I often see a Grady here and there. They are just one of many brands on the water. There are few on the St. Johns River for instance, but in Veto Grady dominates. The Keys you see them, but not like there. Anyway, just an observation. It was nice to splash the boat. I was up at...

the land of Grady White has been found

I spent the day cruising the ICW between southern Bernard County, Fla and Fort Pierce inlet. I have never seen as many Gradys in one spot in all my time on the water from the Carolinas to Florida as I have seen in Vero Beach. I think when you buy a multimillion dollar water front home that...

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

Larry, I switched to a 4 blade prop last year and got anywhere between 1 and 2 tenths mpg cruise performance improvement. On the high end it gives me an extra 30 miles of range and the low end around 15 miles. I also get a tad better trolling numbers too. I suspect the Gulfy would benefit from...

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

Larry, Maybe you should have another epirb just to be safe  I am curious when you post twice the fuel needed or extra fuel? That boat should have a cruising range of nearly 300 miles if I am not mistaken? My 228 will get 3.3 mpg if the seas are flat and it drops around to 2.7 in 2-3s...

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

I have spent some time in the Keys March through July and May can be a great month or it can be windy out of the east in particular. I have long wanted to make this trip and may try it if the seas lay down for a few days when I am down there. If the Bermuda high kicks in and it is too far east...

    New Grady 265 Express

Tim, I have been lucky enough to have both a camper and a boat. We find ways to to do both. We do a little mountain lake camping where the Grady will fit. We are heading to the Keys in June camping at Pennekamp and taking the boat and a couple of kayaks. Since one of my kids is disabled and...

New here, buying a Grady, could use some help from Experts

Re: New here, buying a Grady, could use some help from Exper Newt, First let it be known I am not an expert on much of anything including board. I,.however, do.have a Holiday Inn Express in my town and I have even stayed there. So, I once owned a 192 and it was powered by a.Yammy F150. We had...

Closing Opening Under Windshield on a Freedom 225

The companion way on my 192 had a matching sunbrella piece that snapped into the walkway and it worked very well. I believe it is standard for the boat.

    where/how to store spare prop?

I keep mine wrapped in a towel and stowed under the port side cabin compartment. I also have Sea Tow. You need to have a spare set of prop washers, nut, cotter pin and of course a prop wrench too.

    Soundings Magazine Boat Review

I read this article and is this you in the story? It is interesting that they did the history of the 190/192 and featured this boat from 1980. I am not saying it is not worthy especially since the boat is old and is still going strong and maybe that is the point I suppose. I had a 1998 192...

Trip down West coast to Lower Matecumbe Key

I have always wanted to do this trip and have done portions of it...some by power boat and I have kayaked a big section of the 10,000 Islands. I have run my boat from Flamingo to Bahia Honda as well. The early summer is perhaps the most ideal time to be in the Keys in my opinion as the winds...

    Best GPS and sounder?

Hey Brian, while you are at it, toss in some LED stern lights for you and me too. We provided technical advice...call it a consulting few (lol).

    Best GPS and sounder?

Zimm, I know you sent pics and all, but does your boat have a hard top with a electronics box in it? I want to say no. In my old boat I used a Standard Horizon black box style VHF radio. This freed up space for a bigger GPS unit. You will use your GPS all the time and your radio some of the...

What color sunbrella for my canvas?

My boat came with Sunbrella curtains from the factory with what ever navy blue they use. I could not tell you whether it is #60 or #80. With that said, it has held up well for me. I do keep my boat under cover when not in use so I suspect this helps a bit. Thinking back about my old 192, it too...
