    Dry Tortugas via Key West

Awesome trip report!. I am a native Floridian and some FWF officers are cool and others are complete jerks, but alas that is how it is int law enforcement. If we have time and the seas are fair when we are in the Keys in June we may attempt the trip.

1995 Seafarer - Question on construction

I have a. 228 and ultimately I would suggest calling a surveyor. You could see if there is water in the bracket? Look for soft spots around the swim platform and perhaps around where the bracket attaches to the boat. Open up the stern compartments and look and feel around, use a flashlight, look...

Ordered stern lights now looking for chasing wire tips

Hey Yall: I ordered 3 stern lights from Chris at Coastal - 2 green and a white....thanks for all the input. I looked at Seablaze and H20 Lights too but for the money I hope they work well. Anyway, once I get the wires inside the hull, what tips or tricks are there for running a wire from helm...

    What ski/tube towing bridle?

Brian, is this a local marine store in your area? I have not earnestly looked for one but read Simms thread and it caught my eye. I want one for my boat and since we essentially have the same.clearance.issues I.thought I would ask. Could you share here or send me pm about the bridal? Thanks.

Brand New G/W Owner - Needs Help on 192

I had a 192 and it had the reclining seat. The gas tank is center line mounted and you could remove the gas tank lid and see where the bracing and so forth is located.

    Trailer Tires

Thanks Seasick on the locktite suggestion I will try it. Call me an idiot but that is what I thought a " lock washer" was supposed to do  I will use the loctite plus the lock washer too. I read that service bulletin from Good Year and the interesting thing is this. Wallyworld inflates...

    Trailer Tires

Hey YaLL: I trailer my boat every where and we often make 1 or 2 trips from NC to Fla every year and as far south as the Keys which is around 900 miles one way. I am running right now good year marathons and they seem to be ok. Sunday ( yesterday) I was coming home from Fla and before I...

opening day on the Chesapeake Bay

Some boats have a reputation for being sea worthy. Grady drives this home in all their marketing about how tough, safe, superbly engineered their boats are. I think it can build in a false sense of security and some folks push their limits relying on the boat rather than their good sense and...

    gelcoat polishing need advice

I was a maguires man before somebody here mentioned collinites. That stuff is the bomb! I like maguires stuff too, but the Fleet Wax lasts a long time. My topside finish on cabin part was dulling some and I used some 3M Finess ( I am not spelling this right) and did so lightly which brought...

    Hey Gary M.

Bill, I am eGary M here on the fuel thing. If I had a choice I would run ethanol free. But I dont and from what I read it was the MTB additive that once was used in ethanol free gas which would chemically react with ethanol causing all the problems. MTB is no longer used so the issue of mixing...

    Hey Gary M.

I am not Gary M. I am not one to tell you Magic what to worry about or not worry about in terms of ethanol. I will say don't let that stop you from going. My boat rarely gets to quinch it's thirst on ethanol free gas. I supply can't get..here. So, I liberally use stabil and ring free. Change my...

    Awesome towable recommendation

Hi Guys: For those who use their Grady's for something other than fishing, I know the blasphemy, I have a product I highly recommend. Four years ago I purchased a tube from HO called the Atom and due to use and some mice over the winter it has met its demise. The tube has been upgraded and...

Putting Up the Canvas without getting a heart attack

Magic, I called it first man....but you might be right. time is more limited in supply for boats for me than you. Tell you what, we can share it (lol)...I honestly mean no harm to Graybeard at all...hope his boat brings him many years of joy for him and his family.

Putting Up the Canvas without getting a heart attack

I am assuming you have the soft top? If so, here is what I had to do my 192 when I had it. The position of the top is some what dependent upon the tension of the guide straps. So when putting up the curtains do what everyone else said to do, start the zippers and so forth, but if you need the...

Lowrance HDS Thru-hull transducer on an Explorer

It seems to me mounting the through hull a bit more aft will work fine as the further to the rear of the boat, the transducer will more likely be in the water at speed most of the time and less air under the hull there?

    Protecting transoms from rot

I am curious about this as well. Maybe backing out the swim platform bolts and resealing with 4200 or 5200? Unless that bracket is getting full of water, the mounting bolts there seem to be the last place to get rot, but I could be wrong.

Closing Opening Under Windshield on a Freedom 225

Graybeard, in places my side curtains do the same thing and it is annoying. Granted my boat is now 4 years old, but it seems snaps are not all created equal as it were. Some tend to be sticky and hold well while the next one in line always seems to coming free. I think it is more the snap on...
