    livewell issue

What model live well pump is it? Should be mounted on seacock. If its a Rule cartridge pump they are 1/4 turn twist out. They have a locking tab you need to push then push down and rotate the pump. Markings on top of pump show this. Probably the shaft corroded out and the impeller fell off...

    trim tab issue

Also check the ground wire at the pump. For some reason Bennett didn't bring the ground wire up to the switches. If the fuse is good have a helper on the switches and you put your hand on the pump. There are two reversing solenoids and a pump motor. As they work the switch you should feel them...

    Helm Chair

So I mounted it 5" aft, 3" to Starboard side and cut the base down 1". Chair is a little wider than original. Since it doesn't need to be turned around (flip back) I pushed it over so as to not interfere with walkway. Overall I'm happy with this chair.

    Re-glassing Fuel-tank Hatch

My son works at Lowes as Pro Desk Manager. At one point they had marine grade plywood. Not sure after Covid and supply chain problems but worth a check. They may have to order it. If you want Coosa board Mesco (big marine distributor in my area) has it. Your marina probably does business with them.

    Thru-hull fitting size - seafarer 226

You really have to measure. They could be 3/4", 1", 1 1/4" or 1 1/2". Get inside and get the hose off. I use a step drill bit to get them out from the outside. Destructive but they will not be used again. Important note: The hose ID is not the thru hull od. Measure them!

    Inspected Gas Tank Compartment

I have found the deck plates don't seal well with regular silicone. I'm using 3M 4000uv. It's a mild adhesive and works well. Yes- the o-rings should be replaced, silicone grease and all surfaces clean. I'm tempted to caulk the dam things!

    jabsco manual head

Yes. Broken or stuck. They are floats.

    jabsco manual head

No time for guesswork. Meet us halfway. Pump it out at the marina and see if its empty or full! You could also disconnect the thru hull pumpout hose. Get a new piece of vinyl hose and pumpout into a 5-gallon bucket. Dump in toilet. If your macerator isn't working go back to marina, pump out...

    jabsco manual head

I have a Groco panel on mine and a float for level indicator. I could not get mine out - I think someone used rubber cement as a thread sealer. I was going to repair it but gave up. Actually best practice is to empty the tank as soon as possible. It's small anyway. Do you have a in-tank Groco...

    Inspected Gas Tank Compartment

Looks like some areas of water intrusion on the hatch. Check to see if the edges have separated from the glass over the plywood. What happened on mine was the plywood got wet and leaked the glue out on top of my tank. Tank cleaned up but I may do them this summer. They are overdue.

    Inspected Gas Tank Compartment

You really can't tell without pulling the tanks. Corrosion happens where tanks sit on something. Usually the rubber strips.

    jabsco manual head

I have a manual Jabsco. Never had a problem like that. Seacock is always open (I know it shouldn't be) and the fill/empty selector is in random position. Go to marina and have the tank pumped out. See if it isn't a bad float indicator.

    Re-glassing Fuel-tank Hatch

On the new plywood overdrill the deck screw holes from the underside. Tape off topside. Fill with resin. Re-drill. This is a big source of water intrusion. I did mine as one piece Coosa board. Good plywood and squares are up to you. I also vacuum bagged the hatch to squeeze together and get air...

You can buy a off the shelf cover online. I'm assuming it's not a custom cover you want.

Bahamas and open sea voyage on GW235

Bimini from South Florida is like a canyon trip that you can overnight on land! Bimini is a cool destination. Hemingway drinking spots, Silence of the Lamb's seaplane port, End of the World bar.

Bahamas and open sea voyage on GW235

I'm in Cape May and started offshore fishing in 1995 with a 29' Luhrs diesel boat. At the end of the season that year I thought "what a waste to leave the boat sit all winter" and had the boat transported down to FL. Boat was in Pompano beach that winter and my family used it long weekends and...

Bahamas and open sea voyage on GW235

I wouldn’t go without someone who has done this trip and done it recently. You need to make some calls and talk to others. Bimini is a popular stop. It was the Big Game Club owned by Bacardi family but it’s been sold once or twice since then. There are two or three marinas. Fuel should be...

Bahamas and open sea voyage on GW235

A group is a great way to go.This is great for Bimini. Get to know some people and maybe go further maybe Abaco. Chubb Cay was good back then but may have become more of a club. When I was at Chub Jack Nicholas came in with his 90’ “Golden Bear” with two flats boats on the bow. Dale Earnhardt...
