    QUESTIONS--Towing a 208 w- a Grand Cherokee

If you are towing it twice a year then it will be fine. If you can tow her dry with little fuel and gear all the better. We do alot of towing and folks often worry about the capacity to pull. Remember engineers rate the vehicle for safely towing and there is a built in margin of safety before...

    Abacos Trip suggestions

walkers, we purchased 4 sea rider bean bags over the past couple of years. You are dead on those make a great way to smooth out a trip. Ours are the tear drop large ones you can take a nap in on the ride home. She does not get sea sick she is just freaked out about the crossing. One time we...

seafarer dilemma older 226 vs newer 228

Gilly, To my knowledge those OX66 motors are tanks and perhaps others here can either confirm or deny this. I know reading here and other places that the first generation f225s have an exhuast manifold corrosion issue so if you go that route have the motor looked over for this issue. I have...

    208 owners

You should be able to post photos in the 208 section of the photo library. I posted photos last winter of our 228 and I recall that I had to resize them...I think. I am still illiterate when it comes to adding a photo in my signature

    Raw Water Washdown Question.

Magic, I have wondered this too. My boat spends 80% of its time running lakes and rivers and 20% of its time on the salty brine of the Gulf and Atlantic. I have washed it down after those trips with freshwater but it did not seem to help. We have a dedicated ShureFlow ProBlaster. Last winter I...

    208 owners

I am not a 208 owner but I did have a 192 before I bought my current 228. With that said this forum welcomes all and especially those owners of Grady from 18 to 36 feet. My dream boat per se is the Express 330. If this economy and real estate market ever turn around I am converting one of my...

    Abacos Trip suggestions

Thanks Yall! Great advice. The Admiral mentioned she is nervous about crossing. I reminded her when we fish out of Charleston or Port Canaveral we often go 50 plus miles off and when you look at it at most you are 30 miles away from land at any given time. I am excited about it. We go to the...

    Abacos Trip suggestions

ahill, On smooth water our mpg is 3.1 mpg and when we have been in 3 to 4s it drops to 2.6 to 2.7 mpg. I am basing my range on my offshore fishing experience and flatwater experience. I am excited about taking my own boat. We have been to Exumas several times to Staniel Cay Yacht Club and flew...

    Abacos Trip suggestions

Hey Yall: I have been invited to boat over with a group going to Green Trutle in the Abacos the first full week of June. I am considering joining the group. I have some general questions and perhaps others who travel across have other suggestions I welcome those. My 228 has a 125 gallon tank...

What's the Best Way to Sell a Grady?

Well there are couple things going on if you had not noticed ;-). We are still in a recession and the uncertainty of the economy looms out there. It is still winter time and folks are not thinking about boating once you go north of Florida. I am not in the market for a Gulfy so I can not...

Pilot house mod house on 204c...

It is odd, but effective. I watched the You Tube video from the link but did not catch the asking price. It seems the price might be fair given the repower and the electronics. IDK. It would be an interesting option if Grady offered all glass for their WAs and pilot house for center consoles...

    really need guidance

Heck I would LOVE to have the new 300 on my 228 and I have the F250 on her. There is no way I would put a 150 on her. I had a 150 on my 192 and it was a good match. All the other advice here is sound going either new or used. Good luck.

WA, CC or DC for family/fishing use?

I have had both the dual and WA and like many have said the DC is a great all around boat especially in nice weather. I now own a 228 and the only.complaint I have is the beam issue, but with that said I like how we can button up tight when the nice weather turns. I respect others here with a...

    225 Freedom

I suspect and I could be wrong that you could order a 225 without a full width platform. You can order both the 226 228 with a port side only swim platform.

How many lines do you troll?

I do not yet have outriggers...stupid economy. I troll 6 lines. I bought these keeled bird things called outrovers. We will run two on each side and I use a combination of the side mounted rod holders on the 228 and the aft rod holders on the bait station. I flatline at least one of the bait...

Floor covering for a Tournament 190

I use it around my hot tubs at my vacation rentals. I think it would be hard on the joints. They stuff is rather hard. I could see using perhaps in the aft deck area but not under foot at the helm while underway.

    225 Freedom

Do you mean can you rig a kicker with a full width swim platform? I have a 228 with a full width swim platform and I do not see that this is possible. If the motor bracket extends 18 inches beyond the stern then perhaps it is.

    Dry Dock or Wet Slip?

I am sorry, I did catch that. I still tend to think you will have a few more maintenance issues due the humidity and closer proximity to the salt air. My long term goal is to have an express 330 and should it work out I will keep her in a dry stack.

    Dry Dock or Wet Slip?

How much more time and money are you willing to spend on the extra maintenance you will be having due to keeping her in the water? You will need to paint the hull with an antifauling paint for starters. Then you have extra corrosion from the zincs on the motors, trim tabs, the electrical system...

    towing with vinyl enclosure installed

We simply roll them up. Can you not do this? I have trailered mine down for short trips. If they are buttoned up and tight I have observed highway speeds do not bother the front curtains at all. Now bugs are another story they get coated at times.
