Re: Just purchased a 2011 GW 300 Marlin Congrats on the new boat! I like the Marlin and it is on my wish list for possible bigger Gradys. Lucky!!!!

Tournament 205 ride with full enclosures

I had a 192 which I suspect rides similar to the 205. I never noticed a ride difference between riding with the top up or down including the curtains.

    Motor selection for Seafarer 22

I have an 08 seafarer and it came with a F250. I can see having the F300 would be awesome. I am intrigued about the twin 115 set up that clockwork mentions. I love to fish offshore and twins would awesome.

    Re-build or buy new?

If you can afford to go new you will also get all new guages and throttle connections. You can still upgrade all these anyway. My 2 cents after examining why the motor seized and you really need a different power plant, consider the hpdi route if new 4 banger is not in the budget. Good luck.

Labor Day Weekend Plans...lets hear them

Hi Yall: We are off to Lake Chicamouga on the TN River near Chattanooga and staying at Harrison Bay State Park. My kids will go through a couple of the locks and dams while there. I am not sure they have ever seen a lock? Anway, if anybody is on the TN River near Chattanooga this weekend and you...

    228G or 232?

Lol...I can tell y'all don't go backpacking. I can being 6 2 it would be uncomfortable. I guess if you want comfortable getting somethin in the 28 foot plus range is ideal.

    Through Hull Transducers

Doc, The 228 has, well mine has, the single 125 gallon tank and then aft there is the 10 gallon water tank. There is ample space in the water tank compartment for the transducer. I don't know how the compartments are laid out in the 226, but does your boat have a similar lay out?

    Through Hull Transducers

The nomenclature makes no sense to me (lol)...my ducer shoots the beam through the hull and the ducer itself rest on top of the hull, it is not in it as the name suggests. I would think these would be named the other way around as the one mounted with the hole drilled is actually mounted in the...

    Through Hull Transducers

Here is a quick (dumb)question. When folks write through hull are they talking about drilling a hole and mounting a transducer that is exposed to water? or are they talking about the kind mounted in a box filled with a fluid and it shoots through the hull, but no holes are drilled? Or is this...

    226/228 outboard clearance

I never sea trialed or even looked at the 226, but with that said, I went from the 192 to the 228. It took me maybe 20 hours of running her to get the feel of the boat. I used some tips here like the trim position around the dock. Once you get use to her handeling characteristics, the 228 is a...

    Through Hull Transducers

I have an Airmar M260 1kw through hull and it picks up the bottom quite well on plane at 43 mph in calm water and even in 2-3s offshore. I lost the botton in 1,600 feet of water when I was in the Florida Keys last year. I am running a Garmin GSD 22 digital sounder interfaced with 4208 chart...

    Tow Vehicle for Grady 258

I have a Tundra and love the truck. If one was so inclined to tow 10,000 pounds with it, it will do without hesitation. If I had the Journey I would upgrade the brakes to the TRD vented rotors and 6 piston calipers. The standard ones stop my truck on dime and like somebody mentioned, towing is...

    228G or 232?

The sink is tiny and one need not remove it. You may want to consider the Journey, but even that would be small for 4 folks. With that said I am 5.5, the Admiral is lucky to to be 4.10 and my kids are small. We took a cruise down the St. Johns River from the mouth a Mayport to Sanford in our...

    Grady White discontinuing dealers

Chris, you are pretty darn dead on the impulse buy thing. Although we wanted a 275 had the down payment and so forth, but banks in 2009, like today, we not lending money even with a good credit history and so forth, but being self employed we just did not qualify. So I was loyal per se to...

    Grady White discontinuing dealers

Capt Chris, I bought my 228 from Lockwood Marine near Savanna, GA. They are still in business, but carry virtually no inventory. I have had my boat in for warranty work at Mid-Carolina in Columbia and I really liked their approach to business. They treated me as if I bought my boat from them. If...

    226/228 outboard clearance

I have a 2008 228 and the front part of the skeg and the lower part of the bullet of the gear box of the F250 remains in the water when tilted up. I trailer my boat so this is not an issue for me. Personally, I like the layout of the 228 over the 226 with the full enclosed stern, center line...

    New 225

One should count themselves lucky to live so close to the water like that :)

    New 225

Congrats on the new boat. I would like to add a few trailering tips. You must keep the tires inflated to their rated psi. Low tire pressure causes excess heat to the tire causing premature wear of the tread, hotter hubs thus hotter bearings and so forth. Every year break the trailer hubs down...

    Old Gradys

Gary, entropy stinks :bang. My sister bought me a shirt many years ago that says B O A T and under those letters it says break out another thousand. To keep up a boat in good shape means work and money at times. I have to replace the cockpit shower housing and trouble shoot a potential...

    First Offshore trip.

Adam, I read on the forum the Hull Truth or was it Charleston Offshore Fishing, either way a fellow there is giving up fishing offshore due to high fuel costs, snapper limits and so forth. He was predominantly a bottom bumper and the 2 snapper limit means his catch was costing around $39 a pound...
