NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

While these aren't commonplace to see (depending on the area you're in), they are a tried and true method of transporting gas... a heck of a lot safer than a plastic oil drum, for sure! Remember, just because it's "different" than what you're used to, doesn't mean it's bad :)

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

Cape, do you have room to install a secondary tank? You could still use a manual/3-way fuel selector valve, but you could also have it wired with a switch at the helm to flip back and forth between tanks electrically. Take a look at Moeller's website - you might find an off-the-shelf sized...

Trailering - motors up or down?

If I was going to splurge and pay for anything more than a scrap piece of 2x, that M-Y Wedge would be my choice. I'm making a bit of a joke there, but I've seen that Wedge for years, now, and I do like it.

Trailering - motors up or down?

Depends on how it sits on the trailer. If it sits high enough with enough ground clearance, then leave it down. But the built-in "stop" is not meant for trailering - even though some do it and really "shouldn't" be a problem. "Balanced"... not really. The transom still feels the 500lbs no...

    Boat Renaming....

Engrave the name on a piece of a metal and you drop it into the water during the denaming ceremony. But do not reveal the new name, or bring anything (duffle bag, for instance) onto the boat with the new name till the renaming ceremony.

    Boat Renaming....

I'm not very superstitious, either, but it's a fun thing to do - both the denaming and renaming ceremony. Below is what I've written in the past in another thread, so I just copied and pasted... I would do the denaming ceremony for both names. Can't go wrong by overdoing it... plus you get to...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I just looked at the specs for that pump... you're not kidding! 65g per hour! But it's at least an "example" to get him going and offer and idea. Good point about the style/layout of the boat, I wasn't thinking of that. However, 100g isn't really all that much and the size of the bag will...

NE Canyon run w/ gas bladder planning

I think you have solid plan there. While I don't have personal experience with a fuel bladder, by no means is this "untried" or "new territory". Fuel bladders have been around for quite a while and as long as you take your safety precautions, are reliable. You might consider a gas-rated 12V...

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

Amount of throttle depends on conditions such as how deep you are or how easy the rollers roll. It's not rocket science, you'll figure it out. But, the answer is... enough to throttle to keep it from rolling backwards. And... you know how far down you can trim your engine without the skeg...

Trailer guide poles or bunks ?

As conditions allow, I try to power load as often as possible. Thunk! Right up to the bow stop. If you're by yourself, leave the engine in gear and either reach over the bow or climb down over the bow to attach the hook. Question for those of you with the side ladder - which looks very nice...

    Water in fuel tanks

Don't try and reinvent the filler cap. It works as designed - on thousands and thousands and thousands of boats. Double check for that (good condition) o-ring as mentioned above. Condensation... where are you located? Best thing you can do to counter condensation is to keep the tanks full...

Transportation from sw Florida to Massachusetts

Disregard most of what you read on forums (other than this one, of course!). "Due dilligence" could be something as simple as the carrier requiring the boat owner to have the boat shrink wrapped. That would be a perfectly acceptable request from the carrier - even though some people out there...

Transportation from sw Florida to Massachusetts

Did you have a bad experience with uship? Reason I ask is that I've had numerous customers use them with good results. I guess it really all depends on which particular transporter you end up choosing. Also try googling for hot shot trailering/delivery, etc. If you can't find someone with...

Having trouble with switches on my 225Tournament.

Forget about the schematics, for now. Put your eyes and hands on the fuses - obviousy check them, but pull them out and check for cean contacts, both the fuse and the receptacle. Check for clean contacts on ALL wires (ppos and neg) at the fuse panel and the switches. This means, not just...

    Single engine on larger boat?

Torqeedo has been coming out with larger and larger electric outboards, but so far they're only up to 80HP. I think the overall weight with batteries (to give about an hour run time at full throttle) is a few hundred pounds more than this Merc big boy... and still only 80HP. Double the...

    Single engine on larger boat?

Where I see these being used, at least in the beginning, is to replace triple engines. Where a boat may have had to use 3 engines, it can now use 2, with the added benefits of the shifting tranny and twin, counter-rotating props and most likely the same or better performance with increased fuel...

    Replacing V-Berth Cushions...

I had them remade with 4" medium density foam, including new covers, and it was about $600 for the set, including the center filler piece. Pretty inexpensive, actually.

I still have some metal 6-gallon and 3-gallon tanks in use!

    Single engine on larger boat?

If you haven't seen this, yet... how 'bout a 600HP, 7.6L V12 outboard? No, I did not make a type there. V12! Fixed engine with articulating lower unit, dual props. Might have to reinforce your transom, though as it weighs almost 1,300lbs! But that's a lot of engine sitting in one location...
