    Dry Tortuga trip planning questions

Strike: It is a long haul from western NC to the Keys for sure. However, we break the trip up and stay a day or so in Orlando to visit family/ friends. Then it is a 6 hour trip to Key Largo from there. Drive wise, once we get past Columbia and it flattens out, it gets easier. I 95 can be a...

Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

Southeast mentioned something which has got me thinking...oh the puff of smoke came out of my ears ...anyway, bow pulpits...bolted on versus being molded into the boat? When a builder integrates a bow puplit into the deck liner or hull or how ever it is done, from my experience they either...

    Dry Tortuga trip planning questions

richie rich: I have kayaked the 10.000 islands area of Everglades National Park on mulitday trips and man, you are right, in the fall and winter, best time to avoid bugs, those fronts can come in and take even the backwater bays and put a nasty chop on it. The fishing is not the best in the...

    Dry Tortuga trip planning questions

What time of the year did you run on the ferry with 5 foot seas? The admiral already stated if seas are more than 2-3 then she is not interested at all going. I have been down where you could water ski in the stream and have seen it turn on a dime. One trip the place was dead calm for week...

    Dry Tortuga trip planning questions

Thanks guys. We have a 125 gallon tank and depending on coonditions we get 2.4 to 3.1 miles per gallon. This gives us on the low side 275 miles with the trip being 140, we have a buffer of 130 miles. We are tagging this trip onto the end of our Keys trip if the weather and seas are great we...

    Dry Tortuga trip planning questions

Have any of y'all run to the Dry Tortugas from Key West? I was examining charts and looking at the depths and distance. As far as I could tell the route runs north of the Gulf Stream? Is this correct? Looking at the distance and it is doable with my 228, and feel a bit better with no stream...

    Need Your Thoughts-Yamaha Engine Recommendation

I guess the trade off is more HP less fuel economy and HPDI better fuel economy and less HP. Just wondering something and others may be able to answer this better. Would 50 hp less with the HPDI actually be a wash with the 250 SS motor? Follow me here for a second, maybe the power band of...

minimum hp for GW 19' tournament

I had a 1998 192 and it came with an ocean pro Johnson 150. Repowered it in 04 with Yammaha F150. Put over 500 hours on the yammy without a lick of problems and my fuel economy more than doubled over that 2 stroke carburated 150. My brother had an 1987 192 and it came with an 140 HP Evinrude...

    Tow vehicle opinions

My Tundra has Toyota's 6 speed automatic/manual transmission where I can use it fully automatic or simply move it to the "s" position and electronically "manually" shift it from first to 6th. I get without towing on average 19.5 mpg highway, towing it goes down to maybe 12-13. The 5.8 liter is a...

Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

Quick follow up-- If folks want to be critical of their boat, dealer or have insight on improving a boat, by all means share it. What is not acceptable is suggesting what NA52 did. Southeast has his or her opinion and an opinion is like a rear end, everyone has one and some may hold water...

Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

NA52, Let me get this straight. Using your logic only master craftsman, aquanautical engineers, boat builders and elite thinkers are allowed to post messages on this forum? Wow, I will be the first to admit my limited scope of boating knowledge, but is it not the purpose of forums like...

Took Factory Tour last Friday - WOW! - Incredible!

I am a Grady White Kool aid drinker. I love my boat and not sure I would buy any other coastal fishing boat. I love the ride, the look, the lack of flashy gel coat colors. Perhaps in 1991 Grady's through hulls could have been better, perhaps all the things folks point could be better. In 1991...

    Seafarer rod holder replacements

You could replace with aluminum or SS ones. Call Grady and maybe they could point you in the right direction. Also, I thought they were installed there because the offer a smart choice for placing a rod when baiting live bait or for general travel with spinning gear.

    Tow vehicle opinions

I love my 08 Tundra. The crew max cab is awesome. My kids love it and it is very comfy. It is a solid truck and the 2010 models have a beefier tranny. It may not be dually, but it is also not a Chevy or a Dodge....wink wink...both those companies futures are questionable....

    Yamaha F225 Problems?

Not a bad idea you have fish1. It makes me wonder what engineers who designed this part of the motor what they specified as to the parts life expectancy? Based on folks experiences here it appears Yamaha knew it was a potential problem and corrected it. Wonder if the route to press first is...

    Tournament 225 Boat length help

The other factor here is how she sits on the trailer. Some folks get beefier longer trailers while others go the other way trying to max out a trailer. From the looks of it you should be fine Bama even with the bracket.

    Tournament 225 Boat length help

You are looking at 4 feet with the motor included. Honestly, it is impressive to see how the bracket can support the motor and deal with the forces associated with a boat moving through the water on 3 axis. I gotta say I like bracket as it opens up precious space on a smaller boat.

Taco top mount outrigger for a 228 hardtop configuration

I have researched out riggers for my boat for this spring...oh Happy New Year by the way, and i am going to use the Tacos because we trailer it from the mountains to the coast for fishing and the telescoping poles are what I need. Given the 228 top is relatively narrow compared to bigger...
