    Overboard Pump-Out Question

My opinion, based on past experience = You need to replace the Duck Bill valves. Not likely the impeller in the tank. Duck bills are either inverted or broken. You probably have 2 or 4 of them. I think West Marine stocks them. Crappy job. Good luck and wear your gloves!

Generator access plate 2006 330 Express

The area around the genset hatch cover is the wettest part of the boat. All water and all blood and guts from fishing flow there. My 2006 330 has the sealed cover plate and I like it because: 1. I don't go down into that bilge area often (once every 2 years to change the impellor on the FP...

Replacing livewell pump on 330? (Difficulty)

Very easy to swap out. If you are sure the pump is faulty (after testing power connections), you can remove the pump (seacock closed), and look at the model # on it. It is in your center bildge access on the left as you face the stern. That is - on starboard side and forward of the raw water...

Do You Have Power Assist Steering on your GW?

Okay - Here's the deal in case you also have Power Assist steering. The first generation pumps (mine is a 2006) were prone to overheating. They have a sensor which shuts them down. After they cool a bit, like 3-5 minutes, the pump re-sets itself and turns back on. This is exactly what I...

Do You Have Power Assist Steering on your GW?

If so, do you know WHERE the power assist pump or motor is? I have an intermittent issue with mine (2006 330 Express). I'm pretty sure it's a loose electrical connection but I know nothing of the anatomy of the power assist system. Any advice would help. Thanks,

    What bottom paint?

"...just purchased 330 express with f-250's so power on the low side." <<< Who told you that? Let me guess - the same guy who told you about clear bottom paint? GW used to power all 330's with F225's and they are darn good engines. Either the 225 or the 250 is at least adequate in my...

    6 year old F250 maintence+FP generator

Looks to me like you did a great job. And saved yourself a ton of money! Removed the whole rear deck huh? Amazing what those VST filters look like after 300 - 500 hours. I just had mine swapped out (as well as the T-Stats) but had to pay a yard as my boat doesn't have a trailer and I...

Seafarer 228G water acummulation, front bilge area

Due to the deep vee of the hull, it is common to have water accumulate in the bow area of all GW's (when level). Yes it's good to check if the drain holes are clogged but I would put a level on your deck and bet the boat is still not raised high enough. Plus, when the boat sits on the...

    Canyon range of Grady Marlin

I would figure on 1.0 nmpg on 270 useable gallons of fuel (90% of your 300G capacity). So, you will need 200G to get there and back then have 70 miles to troll ( not 80, 90 or 100). I run a 330 with F250's and kinda know what these V6's drink. The 300 will do better than my 330 but not by...

How much rode in your 330?

Your chain should be at least the length of your boat. As to rode, I guess it should be 7X your water depth. I use an oversized Fortress and am very happy with it in soft San Francisco Bay mud. Good luck!

330 Express - Glass enclosed hard top or standard?

I have owned a 330 for over 3 years. Some comments on the cockpit follow. I absolutely love the center helm and do not think it is cramped at all. In fact, it uniquely offers something no other boat does (that I know of in this size range). On the 330, if you have the Platinum Helm chair like...

33 Express, How do you Change Cockpit Drain Hoses

"I like to do overnight fishing trips 120 miles out in the canyons and I don't feel comfortable knowing the hoses are a possible weak link." Yeah - me too (but on the West Coast at half the distance). That's why you need these 2 things: (1) those corks and plugs I spoke of (for insurance)...

33 Express, How do you Change Cockpit Drain Hoses

I agree with the Post above. Plug the outside of the through hulls with large corks or rubber plugs (I got mine at the local HW Store). From your deck, fill the scuppers with water. Then determine if they are leaking. I did this and found them to be 100% fine. If you really have to...

    marlin in big seas ?

With boats in the 30 foot and above range, I say wind is public enemy number one. These boats can handle alot of swell. But wind, like 15 knots and above, just makes a mess of everything. White caps, blown fishing lines, windshield wipers - yuk! I have learned to do my trips in under 15...

What do you like and dislike about your Grady?

Two dislikes: (1) No tinned wiring, and (2) Wood in the transoms. Unlike other manufacturers (Parker to name one), Grady-White does not use tinned wire. Tinned wire greatly resists or delays the common conditon of "black wire" near leaky terminal ends. Try as you might - you're going to have...

    New Gulfstream 232

Congratulations on the Gulfstream. Excellent choice. Seaworthy, comfortable (beam + cabin) and trailerable. With the twin engines, you also get safety from redundancy. As to: "Both dealers I spoke with were recommending the LoadRite 26T8000TG2 which is an 8000lb capacity tandem axel trailer...
