Acrylic/plexi or carbon fiber looks the best in my opinion. Starboard is the easiest to work with, but it does ripple a bit in high heat environments.

Why not black? Anything lighter in color will look dingy pretty quick.

The newer 225s have a bigger box. You should be able to get the 12 in there, but it will be tight. I know you don’t want to lose the storage, but you might consider flush mounting it in a piece of acrylic or carbon fiber. It will fit comfortably that way.

As KY said, pop the support poles out from the mounts and fold it down into the boat.
