    192 Repower Question

Tohatsu 140 hp is a 2.0 lt engine , Suzuki 140 hp is 2.0 lt as well (2045 cc) the main reason why they are lighter than Honda 150 hp (2.4 lt). I wouldn't hesitate to buy a Tohatsu if the hp suits your boat and you have a dealer close by. As for price check to see what you get for the $$, example...

Fixing my 228, autopilot and power steering question

I installed a Simrad AP44, I bought it as a full kit. Happy with it , no issues at all . I'm not sure you need power steering, I don't. I installed the pump under the helm and the computer in the cabin behind the helm. If you have Raymarine and you are happy, stick with that.

    Removing and re-applying hull-side "GRADY-WHITE" name plates

Remove the old ones and replace with new, that's the best . You can apply heat for easy removal, if you don't have a temp controller on your heat gun use a household electric heater or a hair dryer. Before removal use cardboard to make a template to install the new ones on the same spot.

    Dome light upgrade

When mine stopped working I contacted Lumitec and they replaced it free of charge . I have 2013 228 and this was about two years ago. They normally want the old one back but due to cost from Australia they asked me to send photos with the rear cables cut close to the sealed part. I was told that...

    1999 Seafarer 228 hose & fuel tank inspection/replacing

Long time ago for me (10-11 years ago) but from memory I cut both ends then re attached and fix it wit S/S screws then re glass it over the joints. It is not as hard as it looks, never the less time consuming . When to job is finished you can't tell you cut anything as you don't need to cut a...

    Trailer Rebuild

Once you go bunk you never go back to rollers. So many advantages over rollers and no disadvantages.

    1999 Seafarer 228 hose & fuel tank inspection/replacing

As above, When I bought my old boat 99 model 228( she was fresh water), I pulled the tank out to inspect ( she was 12-13 years old back then) . The tank was still like new so put it back in. Mine only had the one tank, 95 gal from memory , it was a bitch to take out Just like Doug said...

Dodge ecodiesel for towing (and stopping) a 228?

Lucky , You will find your boat on trailer will be close to or even above 7000 lb depending on gear and fuel. MIne goes very close to 7000 with gear and full tank (125 g, yours has 114 gal tank). You have a kicker that I don't have as well. The above weight is on a public calibrated...

    Lower gearcase water flusher

https://www.ebay.com/itm/303609518365?hash=item46b089991d:g:xj0AAOSwNHZe-lle I wonder if any of you guys use this. Looks like you have to use it in conjunction with normal ear muffs. I use tape on mine but if this works it will be more convenient.

    New shoes!!

I change mine every 5 years as well. I make sure I buy fresh stock when I buy the new ones . Nothing wrong with them when I change them and heaps of tread, tread almost like new actually. I replaced mine for the second time last year I bought Bridgestone 205x70x 15" 8 ply radials, made in Japan...

    Motor height Seafarer 228?

If I was you I would lift the engine one hole especially if you use the boat on calm water . You will get more speed for given RPM and better fuel burn. Mine is factory second hole but I have different bracket to you. My motor is further back from the transom.

    Rod Rack Removal

That's a very old boat so I will be guessing . On later models with the starboard you need to take out the livewell. When the livewell is out you will see the fixing screws .

    228 Seafarer?

I would have to agree with KY on the age bit. I'm a long way from where you are and in the wrong ocean. I'm on my second 228, I bought my first one ( 1999 model freshwater boat) from a lake in GA when I was in USA in 2011, she didn't have a hardtop but as she was cheap and in good condition...

New Fisherman 222 Owner with a trailer/hull position question

If you only have 160 lb, 4" will not be enough at least 6" maybe even more. You want 500 lb plus depending on your truck. Roller trailer you don't need to take the boat anywhere, easily done on your level driveway. Move the post and crank the winch handle . If you still find it difficult take it...

Compound, polish , Collinites using a new DeWalt polisher

Good work Smoky, 3M and Collinite excellent products, I use the 885. Now you have to do the rest. I find it much easier to clean the boat after a fishing trip if she waxed once a year.
