Wash down/ live well pump intake scoop positioning

As glacierbaze said . That is your best bet then buy a washdown pump hook it up on the other outlet . I set up this in my old 228, she didn't have a washdown and I didn't want to put another hole on the bottom of the boat. The pick up should always face forward, if facing back it won't pump...

Water depth required to float a Freedom 235

Depending on how far apart your bunks are. If the are under the outer stringers you should only need 12" or less for the boat to float. If they are under the inner stringers you will need a bit more but if you have 23" you wouldn't have any problem floating the boat.

    Dome light

ilmmct , As you suggested I contacted Lumitec yesterday. They offered me a replacement free of charge, I offered to pay for shipping but they said they will cover that as well. They normally want the item send back to them but due to shipping cost they asked me to cut the wires flash and send...

    Dome light

My dome light has failed so I need a replacement . We have a dealer here but they are useless. I contacted Lumitec and they advised that West Marine sell them, if they don't have them they can order from Lumitec . I'm not so sure, if I ordered one from West marine it will be the correct light...

    Overnighter battery move forward

If you want to go the ballast route why not use lead sheet. A lot of guys here use it on their sailing boats for bottom ballast. You can put it anywhere and it won't take much space at all. They use old flashing from demolished buildings or even new flashing . I buy flashing to use for heavy...

    Protection Package with new boat..

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Check what is covered by the extended warranty ( probably insurance policy with very limited cover) . I never buy extended warranties on anything but we are a little different in Australia because we have consumer warranty that is implied on any...

Not a grady question but you guys know a bunch so

I don't have any experience with World Cats but I have some experience with Cats. They are very good on head sea and much more stable when stationary. On the minus, they will use more fuel than a mono of similar weight, they need more power than a similar weight mono and they don't like...

I thought about time I put up another fishing report. This was hooked about 16 kn miles from Sydney heads. About 30 minute fight on 50w Tiagra 50lb line. The fight was shortened because he got tail wrapped on his last jump. Enjoy the video.

    Islander Trailer Setup

To me looks like you have too much load behind the rear axle and not enough load on the tow ball. Could be lots of other things as well , like tyres on the limit trailer on the limit ( or above), incorrect tow ball height that will put more load on either axle . The trailer should sit level when...

    Installing a windlass

I'm aware of that but I was surprised she could handle 3 different sizes chain. 6mm G4 inner length is 18.8mm, 1/4" G4 is .845". I was also surprised that the chain diameter was 7mm. ( coming from imperial USA)

    Installing a windlass

I have the 700 Lewmar on my 2013 228G. I bought the boat with it fitted, not sure who it was fitted by. Have a look at the following pictures, look on the net and you will find how to fit it then decide if that's something you can/want to do yourself. The pinkish colour is reflection from the...

Water in the cavity of the swim platform on a 228?

Hi Lucky, My boat (2013)has the same bracket as yours. She has a plastic nut that screws underneath. Use a 1" socket and be careful not to round the plastic nut. If you round it don't be tempted to replace with anything other than plastic or aluminum. I intend to change mine to aluminum when I...
