No problem at all on two strokes. Warm engine, WOT and good battery will give you more accurate readings. Seasick gave you an idea just in case you drop anything.

Your motor is too low, you need to go up one hole and make sure your bracket doesn't have water in it. That should fix your stiff steering as well.
