Got my first real issue with my Suzuki DT225

http://jerseyshore.craigslist.org/boa/4707865564.html. You could always make him an offer on the counter rotator. http://baltimore.craigslist.org/boa/4759112397.html. Compression sounds a bit low, but it's even. May have been tested with a bad gauge. I had the same motor on my old 204 and...

Got my first real issue with my Suzuki DT225

That sucks. I would go ahead and pull the powerhead yourself (if you have the time and tools). Do some initial tear down...keeping track of ever little nut and bolt...and get to the crankshaft. If it is in fact broken, you just saved yourself $600. With a cracked lower unit, I wouldn't put...

    Grady White Performance

I would post this question over on boatdiesel.com. Another good resource might be Carolina Classic 25 owners. Find them and ask what props they are running with their 315s.

    208 wood grain cockpit trim

I replaced all the trim on my old 204 with Starboard. Looked great. For the long pieces, I simply "oblonged" the holes futher out from the center of the peice and secured everything with screws and finish washers. Don't snug the screws down super tight though. This gives the Starboard the...

Got my first real issue with my Suzuki DT225

I won't pretend to know the cause of that crack, but I do know it's a common issue. So it may or may not be the cause of your problem. Let us know what you find when you drop the lower. Fingers crossed your problem is there.

Got my first real issue with my Suzuki DT225

Uh oh. That's not good. I would drop the lower unit completely and then see if she spins. If not, pull the heads and have a look inside the cylinders. If so, manually shift the lower into gear and see if you can spin the prop. Do you see any hairline cracks in the lower unit near the prop?

I don't believe it's required on a outboard powered boat...but don't quote me on that.

Overnighter rod holder & outrigger backing plates?

The rod holders on my old 204 were just screwed down. No backing plates...not even thru-bolted.

Water in bilge of 87 Overnighter 204

Check your thru hulls. If they are original there's a good chance one or more are cracked and leaking.

    1970 C-Craft P.O.S. project

And now for my confession... I scrapped the original boat and bought the 1980 Wenzel you see in the pic above. I was never completely happy with how the transom on the first boat turned out. So, I cut it out a second time. Then I started seeing a bunch of Wenzels on Craigslist over the...

Need Advice on 225 Yamaha 4 Stroke

If you don't absolutely need the fuel economy of 4 strokes right now, I would sell both and pick up a set of 250 OX66s. There's still a lot of good ones out there and I bet you could get back on the water with two running motors and cash in your pocket.

Advice needed - re-installing aluminum fuel tanks in GW 252

Re: Advice needed - re-installing aluminum fuel tanks in GW I would be more concerned with the foam holding moisture against stringers and bulkheads. If you had a molded tank coffin, then I would foam. Stick with the wedges.

    Trim Tab is gone

If the boat is wet slipped and you don't have sacrificial anodes in the tabs, electrolysis probably ate away at the mounting plate, plane and/or screws. Check the other one! Saw this on my old '93 Sailfish...but I caught it in time. Drilled the tabs, put a zinc in each and remounted with new...

282 Sailfish vs. Eastern Boats 27 Islander

A good friend of mine has a 27' Judge. It's a very close relative of the Eastern 27. The ride on that boat is awful. It is very stable and a nice platform for fishing and general cruising though. VERY efficient with a single Honda 225. Completely different boat than the Sailfish. I say...

Everything is towable. The questions become how much can your truck handle and how much hassle are you willing to deal with?
