    Yamaha F350V6

I know it won't happen, but the rumors that get started on forums are legendary. I'm confident the Honda 5.0 will be a 100% ass kicker. Honda is the king of the NA 4 stroke design. Considering this is their 1st purpose built marine engine, it will be exceptional. The only reason the f350 had...

    Yamaha F350V6

I think we should start the rumor that GW will now be offering Honda as an option.

    Yamaha F350V6

What makes you think it will be a 4.2 V6 and not something else? I'm sure they can get there with DI, but at what cost $$ and reliability? So far it looks like the DI systems in the 425 and 450 are getting the job done, but to say they are reliable is too soon to say IMO. They are also a step...

Anyone put 4 stroke 200 Yamahas on 26f

Are we talking Tiger Cat? If so, the consensus with the X model is that the more weight out back the better. I'm not sure about the CC model. Edit: I got my Xs and Fs backwards. The X is the CC. Insert F where I said X in my 1st comment.

Advice on first Grady White purchase

I was in a very similar circumstance at your age. My dad and I were looking at 248s and 268s. The 268s were a little too big for the garages I had, and a little too expensive to operate. We bought and kept the 248 for almost 10 years; had a lot of fun and made a lot of great memories. No...

    Don’t change your thermostat

While it's a long time to potentially not take something apart, I wouldn't let it stop you from trying. For that application I'm not a fan of penetrating oils. I think their use is over rated unless you can back the bolt out enough to get oil under it. I've had far better luck with a hammer...

    Updating 1988 242G

I've used those for years and have no complaints when launching with a +1. Solo, the front of the boat can drift, but nothing to cause a real issue if you plan well.

Are suggesting to use PVC tubing by itself? If so, that will be a problem. All of the guides that I have seen have a steel core with PVC on the outside as a buffer. PVC tubing by itself is not strong enough and it is also brittle.

    Thinking of selling my 228

Don't let us discourage you. There is no harm in trying to sell it for what you want. I heard of a guy who paid over $100k for a 270 a few years ago. That was about double the going rate. I'm not sure what the boat had that made it so desirable, but he had to have it. Your boat looks amazing for...

    Thinking of selling my 228

Unfortunately what you are going to be up against is the age and the new engine. Repowering an old hull is almost always a financial loss. The market is still good, just not the inferno it has been for the past 4 years. You will need to find a buyer who appreciates what they are buying. The age...

Autopilot- Garmin Reactor 40 with Smartpump info

I didn't know the reactor 40 could handle twins. How many versions of the reactor 40 are there?

    2004 Grady-White Islander

I don't have shore power either. My 2005 frig is 12v. It doesn't draw much power. Since it runs off the 2 battery bank when plugged in, most on board chargers will run the frig and charge the batteries.

    Suzuki 200 Fly by Wire

To be To be clear, I use Garmin. You can still display gages, but Simrad gives more options. With the right props you will see 2.3 mpg +over a very broad rpm band.

    Suzuki 200 Fly by Wire

Being a narrow beam boat, the v6s also take up a lot of real estate on the transom. The inline 4s give you more access for servicing and also more room for boarding from the water. Depending on what props you choose, you will have a 48-50 mph boat. I did my homework and the df200 APs are the...

    Suzuki 200 Fly by Wire

I have done exactly what you are proposing earlier this year. You won't be disappointed. Check out my posts for details. Let me know if you have questions. Unless you plan to run really heavy often, or frequently have conditions and the desire to cruise at 40 + mph, skip the v6s.

    Life expectancy of Yamaha F150's

I can't speak for high hours, but can for corrosion. If your thermostat housings are aging well, you then need to consider mid section burn thru. Yamaha actually suggests removing the power head and checking for burn through at 1k hours. While there look at your oil pumps and see if the drive...

    Sharrow Props

A lot of people hate on these props, but they are better - minus cost and durability. The efficiency gains are there, but it varies at different rpms for different set ups. Sometimes those gains actually happen where you want them. The bigger consistent benefit IMO is noise reduction. It is...

    270 islander MPG

I'm no expert, but I don't think toe would help in your case. I did it with mine to have more consistent bite. I was advised to bring the end of my prop shafts 3/4" closer from parallel. It definitely helped. The boat tracked a little more straight and the tachs were much more consistent when...
