    228 Seat Upgrade

And here is a close up of the screw and anchor that attaches the frame to the seat. I am unfamiliar with this type of anchor, was wondering if anyone could fill me in where I can find them, and how to install them correctly if I need to change the hole locations on the seat to accommodate a...

    228 Seat Upgrade

Pulled the seats today, tensioner broke off one seat, the other was already missing. Question, is the slide and swivel universal size? The pedestals are standard 2 7/8". The frame measures 9.5x12.5" I think replacing them both is the easiest route for me to go.

    Maintenance guilt

FYI about doing the Seastar seals, having replaced mine this season. When you remove the 2 end bolts that hold the cylinder rod in place, it might be frozen stuck, as mine was. I used a hammer on one end to free it up and in the process damaged the thread on the tip and couldn't get the screw on...

    228 Seat Upgrade

Great advice, there is no grease whatsoever on the channels. I'm guessing this caused it to freeze up over time. I'll get a chance to pull the seats off this weekend and bring them home to see what can be done. Appreciate your input on this seasick!

    2000 265 express ox66 4 blade prop

Interesting Ky, Ken @ PropGods suggested a 3 blade for my 228. Possibly because I run in high altitude, but I would have guessed that calls even more for a 4 blade. Anyway happy with my 13.5 pitch Mercury Enertia hole shot and cruise performance.

    228 Seat Upgrade

That was clever....starboard might be an option too. I'm digging those armrests! Is there enough clearance between the two seats? I know it will always be a bit tight :(

    228 Seat Upgrade

I didn't know they just lift right up. I guessed there was bolts to loosen first. I'm gonna pull em and attempt repairs before I do anything else. When the fishing is decent I'm standing up anyway. Appreciate your information, theres a learning curve you just helped me with

    228 Seat Upgrade

Wow! Thanks for sending pics. If the pedestal base I have is compatible, definitely an option. I would say the nicest looking too, but that's a personal choice at the end of the day. Appreciate it!!

    228 Seat Upgrade

Ha! All these projects are a roll of the dice at the end of the day. Neither slides on it's own and I think the passenger seat doesn't even have the handle anymore, so I was trying to make life easy. I'll try your oil and grease suggestion first, but there's a lot of corrosion in the bracket...

    228 Seat Upgrade

I think it's going to be hard for me to use much else but the original seats. Just hoping someone else went through this as well that can offer advise. Thanks for confirming what I suspected....Pompanette seats won't be a good fit for my situation because of their width. Thank you Bdsp1234, Lee

    228 Seat Upgrade

Hey folks, My 1987 Seafarer 228 roto-molded seats do not slide back and forth or swivel more than 45 degrees. My question is can I replace the seat swivel and is there a option for a 360 degree rotation? Do I have to buy new pedestals, or can I use the existing ones?? I wouldn't mind replacing...

    Pyramid Lake

Took my neighbor Rob and his son Clif out to fish Pyramid Lake today. Clif is a professional fishing guide in Alaska. He was a lot of fun to fish with, and was impressed by the quality of the fishery. I just drove the boat so they could catch some nice ones.

    Fiberglass cockpit sole soft spot

Grady used small square pieces so they won't warp down the road. Rationale is if only one large piece of marine grade plywood there is a risk of that happening.
