    GW 222

What a nice find! I wouldn't worry if it was the deal of the century or not. More importantly is the fantastic condition she is in IMO. Congrats!!

    228 Teak Trim Painted

Probably $150 including primer, etc. I like the painted teak because you can still see the wood grain lines here n there vs starboard.

    2004 adventure 208. Wood ?

Plus 1 to what DennisG01 said. I don't think you have much to worry about if the current owner took care of her. I have a 87 Grady 228 with moisture in the transom, and bought it knowing that anyway. I raised the scuppers 3" by cutting out new holes in the transom 3 years back. I was amazed how...

    228 Vent Window Replacement

Now THAT'S a biggie! Seems like your boat is in great operating condition now, so you can fill up yer piggy bank. I wouldn't want to owe anything on a new motor either. Paid cash for my 9.9 kicker 4 years ago, so I'm praying my 2002 Honda BF200 will hold out a while longer with only 550 hours...

    228 Vent Window Replacement

Amen Ky! Awaiting next project LOL. After I get the bottom paint removed in early December, and upgrade the most uncomfortable OEM pre Pompanette seats that don't swivel backwards, I will be happy as a clam.

    228 Vent Window Replacement

Thanks Halfhitch! Yeah, I am glad I went with the 228. I am spoiled with the cockpit/deck space. A great fishing boat for me, but ANY Grady is better than no Grady at all, so congrats to you as well!

    SF Bay Halibut

Miss fishing in the bay. Had a smaller boat I kept up at Loch Lomand Marina in San Rafael. Used to mostly go for Sturgies n Strippers. Leopard sharks too. Nice fish!

Medium Blasting The Bottom to remove years of paint

That is awesome usmm1234! Thank you for your post and updates, if mine comes out anywhere near as nice as yours, I'll be happy. I am going to pay someone to remove the bottom paint of my Seafarer in early December. A decent part of it has already fallen off from my rollers on the trailer over...

    228 Vent Window Replacement

Installed new vent window, handle and gaskets yesterday. Aluminum frame was bent so the new glass from Marine Glass Specialties had to be shaved down with a belt sander and water. Luckily the tempered glass didn't break during that process. Used the old gaskets as a template to cut the new...

    Seafarer fuel sender

I just replaced tank and sending unit. I ordered a wema unit from wemausa.com/KUS My hull is 1987 228 My tank was 15.5" deep, so I ordered a 14.5" sender I know if the tank ever reads empty, there is a couple gallons left in the bottom to get me home safely! I also ordered the rubber gasket...

    Fuel tank replacement round 2!

265 Express , starboard vent window replacement?

SeaVee, I just went through this. Am still actually going through this I should say. I think it depends how old your hull is. As Heckler stated, if you have an older hull, contact Marine Glass Specialties (813) 926-3717 They recently made me a vent window and metal hinge after I lost mine on...

    Boat launched - failed... heh

Yep, as others said sorry man! I used to live in Austin, Bee Cave to be exact but didn't own a boat. I was in raising kiddos mode. Plenty of ski boats on Lake Austin. I'll bet you are one of the few Grady owners in the area. The upside to having no Grady dealers in your area is you will really...

    Cost to replace fuel tank

Not sure of the capacity on yours, but I just replaced my main tank on a 228. Worked out to approximately $10/gallon ($900 total). I did the install, so there was no labor cost. Good luck!

    Installing the new Hardtop

Nice job. Might try 0000 steel wool to get the 5200 off wetted down with some mineral spirits. 5200 gets everywhere you don't want whether you have gloves on or off. It's in its nature :)
