New to me Grady 208 Adventure!!!! Couple ?'s

We had an '80 Step Lift with a 235 Evinrude on it. Talk about a fun boat....50 mph in that hull was great times. Used to buy cases of oil by the quart from the local Unocal 76 station. Liked the quarts because each one covered 12 gallons of gas. Those were the days......

Detailing details please. And missing gasket?

As G8RDave said, use Woody Wax on the nonskid. Don't use regular wax on it or it will become slicker then you-know-what...it's dangerous.

New to me Grady 208 Adventure!!!! Couple ?'s

As long as the oil is certified TCW-3 is meets the standard for lubricity, mixability, etc... Yamalube is more expensive because - like everything else - you are paying for the name. Not knocking it and I am guilty of paying more for certain things (Yamaha Fuel Filters vs. Sierra for example)...

    Spring recommendations for the newbees

I'll add a couple more.... 1.) Snap-stick or other wax product on all your installed snap heads. Takes 5 minutes and your canvas will thank you. 2.) Check for firmware updates for your electronics and take care of these if the manufacturer has released an update. Both my GPS and VHF had...

weight of a 205 freedom on trailer

My 205 Tournament (now Freedom) sat on a Continental aluminum tandem with a 5000 capacity (6000 GVW). I may have had a couple hundred lbs to spare, but not much. You need at least 5000 lbs capacity.

    Yamaha XO 66 250 NEMA 2000?

Nope. OX66s don't transmit NMEA info. You can add remote senders for fuel flow (Garmin GFS-10 or Lowrance EP-60) and I think Bennett has an N2K kit that can send info on your tabs, but that's about it. I have an EP-60 and it works pretty well.

    Summer storage

If you leave it on the lift, do you have a plan in the event of a storm? I'd put it on the trailer, find a secure lot somewhere, and put it there. Depending on where in FL you are, you may be able to find a secure indoor storage facility with climate control.

    Grady 208 fuel guage issue/ prop Q

You should have 80+ usable...it sounds like your sending unit is going. Call GW and get the depth of the tank, then call or visit http://www.wemausa.com They make - IMO - the most reliable senders out there. It goes without saying that replacing the sender is a job for hand or air tools...

1987 228 Seafarer - which motor would you choose?

Top speed around 40 with the 200...maybe 2-3 mph faster with the 225. I'd go with one of the Johnsons and avoid the headache and expense of a rerig.

    Wood?

Unless you are looking at certain models of 2016s that are now using composite, all other GWs use wood. Wood is not a bad thing....in fact the wood that GW has used for many years now is fully encapsulated so it won't rot. Don't let that scare you. Good luck with your purchase.....

    Restoring Duratrim on Adventure

Penetrol and sanding will bring them back somewhat. I'd consider using the old pieces as patterns and replacing them with starboard in the GW Seafoam color. A local shop my be able to do it, or you can check with Fin-Addict Marine out of NC or Boat Outfitters out of FL.

    What Size Prop, 2000 Tournament OX66 225

Sent you a PM. I'm running a Mirage Plus 15.25x17 on mine. Max RPM when WOT and trimmed up is 5400. Best I could turn a 19 was about 5000 RPM.

    2006 228 GRADY STRIPE

That likely occurred because someone overfilled the tanks and the fuel ate up the material. I've seen it on eBay from time to time, but any GW dealer has it and sells it by the foot. I'm partial to Vero Marine and have ordered parts from them for years. Others swear by Taylor Marine. Still...

Advice/Hydrolic Steer & Trim Tabs on Fisherman 180

I had a 180 with cable steering and it did just fine. I never thought the need to have tabs on that boat, although all of my bigger GWs have had them.

    2006 228 grady white seafarer

Aux fuel tank was still an option in 2006 and if the boat you are looking at has two filler caps, then you have the aux tank. The link to the 2006 brochure is here: http://gradywhite.com/media/2791/2006.pdf

    Yamaha hdpi or 4 stroke

The 150, 175 and 200 HPDI are great motors and I wouldn't hesitate to look at a boat powered with one of them. The 250 and 300 HPDI however, are a completely different story. I had a 180 with a 150 Saltwater Series....was the perfect motor for the boat. Cruise low 30s at 4000 rpm or...
