Pompanette helm seat arm rests covers

Installed mine last week. I bit of tugging towards the back of the armrest and they fit great. Nice that once they get dirty, toss them in the wash or away and put on a fresh pair. Thanks for the tip!

    Accuracy of Yamaha gauges

Believe me, I have tried to recalibrate the gauges many times, especially after the first fill ups where I saw a large discrepancy. As I mentioned, Yamaha limits the amount of offset to about 5%, not sufficient for my situation. BTW I reset the totalizer after recording it's value into my fuel...

    Accuracy of Yamaha gauges

My fuel flow gauges are waaaay off. After perhaps 20 fill-ups, reset totalizer each time and then refill, I have observed they are consistently 18% off, reading a higher consumption than actual. The fuel level gauge is actually decent. So if I'm running on the main 130 gal tank, use 100 gal...

Yellow water line stain - finally gone.

I buy oxalic acid on eBay and mix up a 15% solution with hot water. Use a spray bottle Waterline stains disappear almost instantly. The dust from the acid is nasty so wear a mask.

    Understanding Progressive insurance options

I found the same price disparity with Geico or Progressive compared to GCL. I asked about the named storm haul out and April told me because they consider it "trailerable" the coverage is not included. She could get quotes from other companies at higher rates that include the haul out but I...

    Understanding Progressive insurance options

Check out Gallagher Charter Lakes - I provided the contact info in an earlier post about boat insurance. I've found them to be less $$ than the others- last year I did an extensive apples-to-apples comparison and they were 1/3 lower then the next lowest price. And they provide good service...

    Insurance for a 330 express

Try Gallagher Charter Lakes - they were 2/3 the cost of NBOA, apples to apples. Nice to deal with as well. My contact is April Cook-Balech Account Executive 110 Channel Marker Way, Suite 102 | Grasonville, MD 21638 888-879-2248 | 410-827-7750 | 410-827-7055

    Thru-Hull location help?

On the CL flat would be ideal but it's thick there! Also, the outside of the hull is rounded at that point, so the ducer flange wouldn't fit flush with the bottom, potentially causing turbulence and making it difficult to seal. Airmar has thru hull ducers that compensate for the deadrise. I...

    Thru-Hull location help?

I installed a Raymarine thru-hull on the stbd side about 6" from the transom, near the centerline. Worked great even at full speed. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic to show you but the next time I'm at the boat, I'll get one. I changed electronics to Axiom units and now use a transom mounted...

    Fresh Water Reservoir

I have had similar problems and found that the screen strainer just before the water pump totally coated with white gunk, which also stinks. It almost stops the flow. Clean the strainer and- as Legend indicated- run bleach through the tank. I disconnected the hose before the strainer and had...

Transom Mount Transducer on a Marlin

I attached a piece of 5/4 real mahogany - much more dense and rot resistant than the typical "mahogany" - to my transom using 5200, after sanding the area to remove all bottom paint and rough up the fiberglass. Used the engines and wedges to compress the mahogany while the 5200 was setting up...

2002 Yamaha f225txr not shifting out of gear

I also replaced both shift and control cables on my '04 265. I found the outer sheath had corroded through and the inner wire, which it the part that does the work, poked through the corroded sheath. So when I would shift or increase the throttle, the inner wire lost some of its ability to...

    456 Canyon is enormous

I stopped by Cataumet yesterday to take a look and it truly is enormous! The other thing that struck me was the gigantic size of the Yam 425 motors. The 457 had what seems to be a quite small bow thruster and with the size of that bow, it will be working overtime! A 37 Canyon was there as well...

    Running Light Replacement Bulb

Could it be you get 10W with 13.5V and less light output with 12V? Fixed resistance, so @ 12V you only get 8.8W.

    transom cap (bang plate)

The 304SS angle worked out really well. It's stiffer than you think and has a great finish. After all it's primarily a finish piece, not structural. The sealant is important and I applied it to the angle and transom to be sure it was totally sealed. After one boating season, it still looks...

Groco pump -simple macerator retrofit- 265 Express

Hi- my set up has been totally trouble-free and continues to work well. The y valve is used if I have to use a pump-out, otherwise I leave it in the position for overboard discharge, which I can do in my area. If I need to change the y valve position, I put a new piece of starboard as a hatch...
