Luckydude you just have to slow down. I haven't had my 228 out yet. But other boats I've owned and riding on other peoples boats I can say your not going to be able go full speed in the Pacific and be comfortable. It's not a lake, You will figure out the trim and motor just sit back and enjoy...

You want to be sure and get a HIGH THRUST motor. A 8hp HT will push your 228 just fine. 9.9HT even better.
