Putting Up the Canvas without getting a heart attack

I had the same problem on my Gulfstream canvas, just on the front window pieces. I got sick of messing with it and took it to my canvas shop. They re-positioned the snaps so it wasn't near as violin-string tight as before...Much better now. Smoky has too much going on to take care of another...

    YAMAHA F150

My very first test ride in a Grady was an Adventure 208. The 1st thing I thought of when the boat planed off was that it needed a 200 or 225. Bigfoot is correct. "Do it once, do it right."

    Dry Tortugas via Key West

Smoky and I were discussing this.. I have heard that you are really restricted concerning where you can anchor. For example, I've been told you can't anchor near any beach and wade ashore, nor can you randomly pick a spot and drop the hook. There is a designated anchorage area off Garden Key, I...

Anyone use those slick guides on their bunk trailers

In re-reading your post, I hope I'm not mis-interpreting the product you speak of. When you say, "slick guides" I think of the silicone-type sprays that my friends have used on their carpeted bunks. If this is a different product, I ask pardon.

Anyone use those slick guides on their bunk trailers

Hi Graybeard; I have been reading "from a distance" about your new ride and enjoying your excitement, conveyed thru your posts. I well remember the same feeling when I took delivery of my new, 2007 232. Anyway, to your question. I have seen the result of the slick wax-type sprays you speak of...

Trip down West coast to Lower Matecumbe Key

Sounds like a great time. I have been to a few of your trip points separately, but never ran the whole distance between. Couple questions.. 1.) How long does it take to run from Carabelle to Clearwater? I know that is open water. 2.) Ditto for the distance from Marco to Channel #5? You may...

    Wicked Tuna

Hi Fishtales; I watched some of them..I don't enjoy that stuff 'cause I don't fish, but I have no doubt that they are experts in their field, and work really hard to bring it home. I got tired of them yelling at each other across the water like kids on a playground in grade school, though. I...

    Best GPS and sounder?

Hey Zimm; Slightly off-subject, but I don't want to start an entire thread for this.. Where will you use the boat and why did the previous owner sell? Just curious.. I agree with Parth; Get a large screen without a doubt. I have a 2007 Garmin 3210 and it has been my closest ally ever since...

    Bought a '01 226!

Your right; I've never heard of anyone shining tires and fenders on trailers..Heck, if he had that attitude, just think of the potential that Yamaha has for a long life. I hear those OX66's are bullet-proof anyway. Enjoy the boat.

    Bought a '01 226!

Boat looks incredibly good. When they are kept that nice, garaged or not, it's a fair indicator that it was maintained properly also. Not to mention the freshwater factor. Looks like a smart purchase to me...Before long when you launch, the weather will be warm.

    200hp on 2001 226?

When I had mine it would do 30 at 3900. However, I had a 250 and no hardtop.

    Gulfstream 23 vs Freedom/tournament 22

Hi wlewis; Congrats on the Grady; Fun times a'comin' To comment on your engine weight issue... The tendencies your Freedom is displaying is almost identical to my Gulfstream's with twin 200 4-strokes. The amount of bowrise is personal to each captain. It doesn't bother me; I just plane it on...

To E-TEC or NOT E-TEC that is the question

Hey SoutheastFl; Interesting you mention 4-strokes lasting the longest; When I bought my Gulfstream, I had heard talk that the HDPI's were among the best Yamaha made and I wanted to power my Gulfstream with them. My selling dealer talked me out of it, saying that the 4-strokes never came back...

To E-TEC or NOT E-TEC that is the question

I have also heard good reports from any E-tec owners I have talked to. I will be interested to hear of their longevity once they've been around a few more years. I know Yamaha owners with 1000 or more hours and they still run perfectly. They also tell me other stories of Yamahas with more than...

Bottom paint waterline - Sailfish 27 ft

I'm not sure how you ascertain where you would mark the hull for the paint procedure without acquiring a scum line for reference. That was how my bottom paint line was determined and everyone else's that I have heard of. I wouldn't guess if it was mine. I suggest you leave the boat in the...

    2000 Gulfstream w Twin ox-66 150's fuel burn??

Hey Finatic; Thought I would jump in here; I have a 232 with twin 200's, circa 2007. I ordered a custom trailer from Integrity Trailers, Nunica, Michigan. They overbuilt it frame-wise and put 5000 lb. axles on it with 16" wheels and load rang "C" tires, I believe. It wasn't enough..... The...

Good Bye to the Grady Family

If he's not using his 265, he won't use a 208 either. Do nothing for a year or two, stay boatless and watch how the kids and family needs evolve. Then, you'll start itching for another boat and the time off will give you a much better perspective on what boat will work for you and the family.

    Gulfstream Planing

I'm with ocnsir; I have a 2007 with twin 200's and I wouldn't even try to plane it off with one engine. I would not risk overloading or damaging it in the process. I'd just go slow and get back.
