    Navigation Lights

Usually, as long as the new base plate is big enough to cover the old screw holes and wire hole, you're fine. A small base plate made out of 1/4" HDPE is a quick solution for holes that aren't covered. The other way would be to fill/repair the exposed holes. Buy 'em and see how they fit...

    Sunroof leaking

Is this just a standard-type hatch? It opens up and you can fix it in an open position? Pretty normal thing to have to repair every so often... although 4 or 5 years is a little shy of the typical timeframe. The first thing you need to do is closely inspect (possibly use a hose) where it's...

    Hard time staying on plane.

I'm surprised at 5-Salt's numbers - they're quite a bit worse than mine. I would think the newer hull/design you should do better (mine is an '82). With 4 normal sized people, full tank and average gear, I'm running 3,700 to 3,900 RPM and getting 26 to 30 MPHand 9 to 11 GPH. I could easily...

    Prop question for F225’s

I can't offer any real world advice on how they'd do... but since you already have them go ahead and pop them on and try it! It only takes a few minutes to change a prop and you'll end up with a very accurate answer in short time.

General question on drilling through transom

Turbo Swings are fantastic - you made a good choice - they do EXACTLY what they say they do and are SUPER strong. I like the quick disconnect feature, too - although likely you won't need to do that much. Yes, as you are surmising, installation is as easy as it sounds. Generally, it would be...

    Air Conditioner in Head ?

Without stating what you've already thought about... how do we know that? :) Where would you position the fan? Just keeping the door open should be all you need - it should at least make it "better".

    1984 GW Sailfish 255

If it's just the transom core (are you sure about that?), then you might consider just cutting the outer skin of the transom off. Don't cut right to edges/corners - leave about an inch - just dig out the rotten stuff. It's a whole lot easier to do it this way.

Strange Trim Tab Issue - 2000 228 Seafarer

Jonathan, thanks for the further clarification. You should DEFINITELY be able to run both tabs up or both tabs down. I think what's happening is that becasuse of the higher load being demanded on it (which SHOULD be fine under normal circumstances) to push both tabs that it's exceeding the amp...

Strange Trim Tab Issue - 2000 228 Seafarer

Yeah, it's simply a matter of trying to ask the pump to do two things at once. The pump can't run fwd and rev at the same time so it yells at you :)

    Air Conditioner in Head ?

Keep the door open? You could certainly T-off a supply vent line and plumb it to the head. Plent of other manufacturers do that so this really isn't a "Marlin" thing - it's just a "plumbing" thing. Find the most conevenient line to T into and get 'er done!

Strange Trim Tab Issue - 2000 228 Seafarer

Are you saying that you are pushing UP on one button and DOWN on the other button at the SAME time? Or are you saying you are pushing BOTH UP or BOTH DOWN? If it's the former, it's user error. Don't don't that. Blowing the fuse is exactly what will happen (if there isn't a built-in...

What anti-fowling paint are you using?

Crap, I just realized that we've all been talking about the wrong thing. Just realized that Thor is looking for paint to keep birds away :)

What anti-fowling paint are you using?

I like guinea pigs... especially when they're not me! That said, I'm sure it would be fine. BUT... the BEST AF paint to use... is the same one that others in the area (with similar rigs) have been using with good results.

Ah, gotcha. Well, I guess you have the answer as to what you need to do to get to the sender, then! :)

What anti-fowling paint are you using?

I have never used it. But if you don't want to take a chance, why not just use something that's a "known" good like the Hydrocoat ECO a couple of us have mentioned? This is used by some very well known boat manufacturer's, as well.

    Fuel Gauge Help Please

The sending unit is the place to start. If you don't have a removable pie plate in the floor for access then you don't have a choice. Pull the floor panel. Install a pie plate for future access. BUT... you SHOULD have a pie plate... why don't you have one? Did someone get rid of it and...

What anti-fowling paint are you using?

Scrap the spray paint stuff - you'll be MUCH happier with a brush on. Try the Hydrocoat Eco I mentioned. For anyone reading this... be SURE you have mixed it well. Even if it was "shaken" for you - mix it by hand (or with drill power mixer) until there is NOTHING left on the bottom. It's not...

Suggestions for removing new-ish ablative bottom paint?

Chiming in about what was said above to save you time and money and time... and time :) Don't worry about the barrier coat. That's for older generations of gelcoat that weren't as impervious to water penetration as the newer, higher quality gelcoat formulations used by some higher end...

What anti-fowling paint are you using?

Color is not a factor when it comes to whether or not it can be used on your bracket (or any metal, for that matter). The key is whether or not it has copper in it. Copper is no bueno for metal - you'd end with dissimilar metals and that can cause corrosion. Look for an "Eco" paint such as...
