Transom Rebuild - The Saga Begins

Even though it's a pain in the butt and wallet, your rundown on what the glass guy is doing is excellent. I'd go that route as well, as to not have this issue again. It'll be nice knowing your transom is sealed and solid going forward. Pictures of the process is mandatory in this thread.

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

I trailer with my antennas down on the hardtop and protect them with pipe insulation and a ball bungee around the rocket launchers to keep them from banging and moving in the wind. You can see them at the back of my hardtop in this pics. It's the same way with the cover on.

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

For lack of a better answer,,,,, tennis balls on a stick in both outside rocket launchers. It holds the cover up off the antennas for the most part. I'll take a pic when I get home tonight.

    Covers and Antennaes UPDATE

It's not shrink wrap, but my antennas are folded down and under the cover. No reason you can't do the same, just put supports underneath before you shrink wrap.

    How to mount

Here's my Simrad NSS12 in my '04 228 box. I previously had 2 Lowrance Carbon 7's in there. Like amamola said, the top edge is obscured by the box but the screen is fully visible on the 12.

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

West coast 228's seem to be a needle in a haystack. I've seen some of the guys buy east coast and have them shipped. Go take a ride on it, if it suits your needs, put a deposit on it and have a surveyor look it over, after the findings, then make your decision. Remember, if it has good bones...

    228G Jack Plate?

What's the reason behind needing to lift the motor 5 inches? If you trailer any at all, that jack plate will put alot of stress on the bracket by pushing the motor further back.

Stock Grady 8252 Vinyl 1 3/8 inch wide trim with adhesive backing tape for sale.

Summer time and a heat gun will be your friend. Mine is coming off in the same area, the bend under the light. Was going the Ebay route till this popped up.

    A couple questions about a 228 Seafarer...

200 four-stroke will be marginal to underpowered on a 228 as far as I'm concerned. I have a 225 on my '04 and it gets me by but will struggle with a full crew and full fuel tanks. I have a new F250 on order, which I consider the ideal package. Some folks will say the 200 is fine, I just don't...

    New Pipe for Hardtop

I agree with fishtales on this. I'd reach out to them if it was my boat and talk with them. If you have to go the new route, I'd have them do the work as well. Nothing like the OEM fit versus trial and error fit, unless you go full custom and drop boat off to a fabrication shop to design a new...

I Was a Little Bit Offended Today (Again)

I can see this happening. Back in '11, I guess your dollar was strong, I was buying and selling boats as a hobby. The big demand was for the Trophy. Any Trophy I bought at auction here in the states, the guys in the AU would snap them up. Actually any walkarounds in the 20'-23' range with no...

    Unbelievable product

I use the spray Bar Keepers Friend. I pick it up at Lowe's. Spray on and let run down the hull, maybe hit it with a wash brush, then hose off.

    Love my new boat cover

I have a cover for the motor I'll sell. Used very little, mainly indoors during storage on my F225. I have a new 4.2 F250 on order and the covers are different and I already have a new cover for it. This is the factory Yamaha cover with a nice liner.

    Replacing cockpit floor drains

This is the one from factory tour that got my attention. Ordered from dealer as soon as I got done with tour.

    Replacing cockpit floor drains

From my Grady dealer. No ball valve. As seen on a new Grady-White at the factory.

Removing aux tank on 1999 268 islander

Correct. Auxiliary is forward. I was the first one to pull my tanks on this boat and there was no sign of a plug of any sort for either drain.
