    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Running in a bucket in neutral will require much less fuel volume than under load. To really determine fuel pressure issues, the engine will need to be loaded. That said, I doubt you have a fuel pressure issue if your flow rate is abnormally high compared to where it normally should be. NTK...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Why would you suspect a clogged vst? It sounds like the engine is running so rich it can't burn all the fuel. 12 to 17 gph. When the O2 sensor gets fouled or is damaged, the engine defaults to rich fuel condition to prevent running lean and causing damage. My 225 couldn't hit max rpm, used...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

FWIW, the new design is black on the 3.1. I've chased issues similar to your experience more than once on a 3.1, never conclusively determined the culprit, but ultimately fixed the issue. Here are my suggestions if sea sick doesn't nail it for you: Decarb heavy shock treatment Replace the O2...

Glad to see you are taking the issue seriously. Unfortunately some aren't. Congrats on a successful, safe trip!

    No Boating

Same in Ohio. We got out today and the weather was perfect. I'm glad we got out, but can understand why some states aren't allowing boating at all. I witnessed today and last week several boats being loaded up with adults from different vehicles. They weren't family. It really chaps me to see a...

    Marlin re-fit/restoration

Congrats on the new boat! I'm no expert on bottom paint, but have read about a number of people who have used some type of white epoxy after stripping bottom paint. It doesn't look like new, but looks very good. I think a member here did it. Look up barclayrl.

It took a while, but it finally happened.

You all must have competition in GA to get prices down! In the mid 90's 20' WA with trailer listed at $45k at local dealer.

It took a while, but it finally happened.

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that if I'm going to get the boat I want, I'll have to travel far. Pricing and travel have ruled out the west coast for me. As others have said, prices will have to come down or people simply won't sell.

It took a while, but it finally happened.

I will be surprised if any mid and high tier boat manufacturers lower prices. 12 years ago prices went up because they needed better margins on the few they sold to survive. Thanks to 20 year payments, the prices didnt go down. I dont think dropping prices on new boats will sell many more when...

It took a while, but it finally happened.

Over at THT I have seen insane prices on used boats, but typically it is for highly sought after models known to stand the test of time. Grady's typically fit the last description, but the models I'm interested in definitely aren't highly sought after. In the past 3 weeks I have seen 2 twenty...

    Boat trailer update

You shouldn't need a wdh for your trailer. Your tongue weight should be under 500 lbs. Our trucks are almost identical. 500 lb tongue weight should be no issue. If you need airbags, you are probably 700+. Too much. Slide the boat back on the trailer 2".

    Boat trailer update

Dennis, is this based on 1st hand experience? Your statement seems a lot more reasonable than what Loadrite states. My owners manual suggests greasing after every dunk! I see so many horror stories about bearing failures and have wondered what interval works best.

    Boat trailer update

Russ, I don't recall if you or someone else worked on your hubs/brakes. Make sure the spindle nuts were tightened correctly. Typically they should be torqued, then backed off to allow for material expansion as the assembly heats up. Also your tongue weight. In my opinion the 10% rule for tongue...

Likely posted over at THT that he bought a grady with a wet transom. After 10 pages of grady bashing he succumbed to the pressure and an unfortunate fire was the best solution? Just a hunch. My serious answer is that he is now putting it up for sale and will leave it at that.

A 98 should have rot resistant green board in the transom and possibly an aluminum brace tied to the stringers. I dont think the wood can rot, but it and the fiberglass can delaminate from freezing. Have you stood on the ventilation plate on each engine and looked for flexing at the top or at...

    225 Yamaha Exhaust tubes..

...and that's another concern about these engines. How many have had the exhaust done and the mating surfaces elsewhere were severely corroded, but thrown back together anyway. Without photos of the repair, I'd wouldn't be willing to pay much more than scrap value for a 225 which is unfortunate...

Keep 228 or move up to 282??

KY, I commend you for your ability to step back and make such a choice! I agree with the others, smart move for someone in your situation. The 228 is a lot of boat for a 22 footer, yet easy to own. For the most part I've made up my mind to move up to a 270 (if I can find one), but often wonder...

    Yamaha XTO 425’s

Interwebs can tell you a lot. From what I know it is a 5.6 liter directed injected engine that is entirely different from the 350. It is really heavy, not very efficient, but likely a rock solid design. I have yet to read of an issue with one. Been out 1-2 years.

    225 Yamaha Exhaust tubes..

I know other parts of the 225 are susceptible to premature corrosion failure, but I have wondered if this is across the board for just certain years. Many of the Grady's I have been looking at have these 225's. My concern is to fix the exhaust and then have a power head failure from water...
