    Axle repaired!

Agree with Hoon. Hate to say it, but 135 is too hot unless you came down a hell of a grade before you checked. My last trip 50 miles one way resulted in hubs only slightly warmer than ambient and that's with a 6800 lb load on a 7200 lb rated trailer. I'd check to see how tight those bearings are.

    Tow Vehicle

If you had 4x4 and a 2 speed transfer case, no problem. 2wd and a Pentastar, not likely even with the best possible gear option that you would get it up the ramp.

    Tow Vehicle

The capability of half tons varies significantly depending on engine, trans, gearing, payload and tow packages. A properly set up trailer and a properly set up half ton will easily tow a 265.

    COVID-19 228G Trailer & Adventure

Congrats on the purchase and successful trip. I knew ecodiesel's could get good mpg towing, but that is really impressive. Is that a gen 1 or 2? Is it modified?

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Congrats! Glad to see you made it to the end of the tunnel. I also can't wait to see the conclusion to what caused the problem to begin with. Great way to start off the weekend!

    248 Voyager Value

The vent should have a hose that goes to another vent in the engine splash well. I haven't ridden in a 258, so I can't comment if the 258 rides better. I like the 258 aft layout and boarding ladder better. Otherwise it is the same boat on the top side. We've been happy with the Voyager. We've...

    248 Voyager Value

The ox66 gets a bad rap for being a fuel and oil hog, but when running correctly, mine has not been. I dont have a hard top and run e10 87 octane: - light load - 2 people half tank of fuel 1-2' chop 2.4-2.6 mpg at 30 mph. - full tank 3-4 people 1-2' chop 2.1-2.3 at 28-30 mph. - 1000-1200 rpm...

    248 Voyager Value

The good thing about the 2000 model year is that it uses XL greenboard for structural components, so stringers and transom wont rot, but be aware of water saturation and delamination from freezing. Looks like the hardtop already has this issue. Ox66 are known to live forever if maintained, but...

Damn. That sucks. Someone summon seasick!

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

I've never studied the induction system on an ox66, but if each injector feeds a cylinder, #6 appears to be running really rich. What are the symptoms of a broken reed? Also, what fuel additives do you run?

What NOT to do while towing

18 or 19 years old working for an underground cable crew for the summer. Boring machine runs out of water. Sent me back to shop to pick up another machine with a full water tank - about 13,000 lbs loaded hitched to a Ram dually. The truck was terribly underpowered for the load. I got onto the...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

You mentioned in another thread that all of your injectors were cleaned because they were "flooding." Are you saying every injector was hung up and dumping fuel until they were cleaned?

Never ran in a bucket, but that doesn't look right.

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

My reasoning for running the old O2 and decarboning was because the engine was already running rich, why not put all that fuel to good use with a bunch of seafoam in it! My 2nd thought was why risk contaminating or damaging a new sensor. Doing a shock treatment under load removes a LOT of...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Again, yes it is very sensitive. Did you decarbon the engine 1st? I believe these engines have a knock sensor. If the engine was running so rich that everything was carboned over, you could have hot spots on the piston or head. I'll be honest that I dont know what an ox66 will do if it detects...

    new motor question

If you have any pie plates on the deck, check the orings. They shrink and a surprising amount of water can get by. For ballast, I bought ultra thick waste bags and 160 lbs of pea gravel. Double bagged the gravel. Not nearly as dense as lead, but I had plenty of room for it. Non toxic to boot!

    new motor question

Another easy option to consider: stand on the bow. Does the scupper and engine come out of the water? If so, add ballast in the cabin under the front cushion. The boat might ride better as an added benefit.

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Use sea foam in a 2-3 gallon fuel container for shock treatment. You will need to look up the ratio. I dont know it off hand. You will actually run the boat under load off this container. I simply disconnected the fuel line ahead of the ball and used an extension to draw from the container. I...

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

I would still do a strong shock treatment decarboning before you put that sensor in to avoid contamination.

    OX66 LP Fuel Pumps

Yes, there is a flame test method, but if I remember right it isn't absolutely correct. As for the throttle plates, dont touch them. All you will do is introduce more variables, not eliminate them. As for TPS, it has to be adjusted with the engine running in neutral, in the water. If it is...
