    Advice on raising scuppers?

Outside of the boat from the dock. Part of me feels like it always sat like this because of how high above the scuppers the bottom paint is. Design wise, it doesn’t make sense though. I haven’t looked in the bracket to see if any water is in there yet. Just something I always noticed and...

Agreed. I need to start finding all of the parts I need to replace all of the thru hulls and how to unseat them

    Advice on raising scuppers?

Definitely keep us posted as I am interested in what you decide. I notice with my 2000 228, when both tanks are full, about 1.5in of the scupper is exposed. Once the main tank is about a 1/3-1/2 full, the scupper is above the water line. Is this similar to others? I have an OX66 225...

Where did you get the new thru hulls from?

    228 Seafarer chalky rubrail

The results I had were similar using Acetone except there were some sections with water spots that probably needed something a little more aggressive. I’ll give magic eraser a try next time. Only negative (or maybe it’s just in my head) is that I feel like it scuffs up much more easily now...

Chart plotter and battery wiring question

Totally overlooked that as a difference! I am leaning towards the surface mount version as I don’t like not knowing the state mine is in without taking it apart. Thoughts on surface vs panel mount?

Chart plotter and battery wiring question

Agreed! Any idea which one that is? Looks like the 187 but not sure what the difference is between 187 vs 285 187: https://www.bluesea.com/products/category/14/30/Circuit_Breakers/187-Series 285: https://www.bluesea.com/products/category/14/32/Circuit_Breakers/285-Series

Chart plotter and battery wiring question

Thanks for sharing. I have a different design than yours with the 40a breaker but mine looks in bad shape and I’m going to just replace it. I’ll probably start a thread asking for input as I came across a few different types and not sure of the pros/cons of each.

    Facebook Grady White pages

I prefer this site over Facebook and I try to reference this site when responding to some posts as many of the questions in those groups were already responded to on this site. I don’t believe some folks in those 3 groups are aware of this site.

2005 Seafarer 228 Bilge wiring question

Sorry, my mind isn’t working and was thinking you were referring to something else. However, I never thought about water coming in there and we were definitely rocking/ swaying a lot yesterday that could explain how water got in. When I replace those hoses I’ll make sure there is a valve on...

    Quick Thru Hull Q

Thanks...I have seen that used a lot. What other purposes does it serve? New Thruhulls or just the connections for the hoses? Going to buy that for future use

    Trim tab gauges

Curious how the 4 blade treats you. I agree with planing at lower speeds.. Getting on plane to then slow down to take on a bigger wave seems counterintuitive if your stern just sinks and bow rises.

2005 Seafarer 228 Bilge wiring question

Where is the thru hull bilge outlet? I get water in the bilge, sometimes just a thin, damp layer but other times enough that when I turn my bilge pump on water comes out. I’m curious if I am doing something that results in extra water coming in sometimes when I wash the boat or possibly stop...

2005 Seafarer 228 Bilge wiring question

I am of the same thinking as you as I would want the 2nd bilge pump as a precaution in case the other one stops working; not in case I need to pump out a lot of water. However, after doing all that work with a second set of wiring, switch, hoses, etc, should you just bite the bullet and make...

    Quick Thru Hull Q

Is that the stay afloat stuff? I have that and rescue tape on the boat. I was debating on loading up silicone and then using the tape. It’s not too bad, but feels like condensation and drips slightly.

    Quick Thru Hull Q

My thru hull on the port side going to the seat has a small drip where it screws into the splitter for the ice boxes (brass meets the plastic). Are there any quick fixes outside of replacing it? Dripping slightly from the bottom of the connection. My plan is to replace when I take the boat...

    Trim tab gauges

Thanks! It makes sense now. No clue why I thought you had written “up” with the engine rather than forward/ down. Right now, I am mostly in the bay and inlet dealing with decent chops. I’ll give your approach a try next time. I slowed down today as I couldn’t see over a few waves that were...

2005 Seafarer 228 Bilge wiring question

Based on feedback on this site and THT, seems like separate units seem to be the preference. I am curious if the built in floats fails does the pump still work manually or not. Seems like the constant cycling turns a lot of people off as mentioned up

2005 Seafarer 228 Bilge wiring question

Assume you’ll run a new thru hull too? I have a 2000 that I would like another bilge pump on but can’t see drilling a new hole through it. I give you credit if you do that on your brand new one.
