    Trim Tabs 101:

Thanks for all of the great feedback and glad someone started this discussion and the other one. I have been playing sea conditions and how I would approach various situations in my head the last few weeks in preparation of running the inlet and the ocean. I have already bookmarked this thread...

Exactly what I was looking for. What do they lace through on the back and sides? Front looks to be the bar that runs across Thanks again! I’ll call them tomorrow.

    PFD Storage re Hardtop

That’s what I am looking for. How is it connected ? Do you remember where you got it from?

    PFD Storage re Hardtop

Does anyone have recommendations for under the hardtop storage for PFDs? I have been throwing them in the cuddy and taking up space while it probably is not the smartest decision. Also, what does the factory setup look like as I am curious if mine was installed at some point?

    Perko dual battery switch

So I always thought you should never run on both and alternate trips between battery 1 vs 2. My mechanic altered my switch setup after installing a cranking battery. His advice was to always start using the cranking battery, switch to house when drifting and use both when underway. I feel...

    Trim Tabs 101:

Thanks for all the helpful information here.... So, I feel like I have figured out the trim tabs on the everyday chop in my bay. However, I went out in some 20-30mph sustained winds one day and wasn’t really sure if I should slow down, stay on plane, raise the bow, etc. When the waves are...

Maiden voyage found an electronics issue. Any ideas appreciated

Take a look at both the positive and negative spade connectors. My positive was loose and did this rather frequently on choppy days. Even after tightening up the connection, it still would do it time to time so i just cut the wire and put a new one on. Probably less than two mins to do with...

226/228 owners - do you pull the plug?

Previous owner of my boat had a spare inside the float on both his key chains. Always heard this rattle inside and eventually popped it off to find another plug.

1999 seafarer 228 makeover/ flush mount for 2 nine inch screens.

Looks great.... What did you use to clean the bilge? Did you use the same around the batteries? Also, did you end up leaving your original thru hulls or replaced them?

    New Battery Config for 265

Understood - I was not following how the house batteries were charging with this setup as I missed the AUX charge. I've been reading up on the Add A Battery setup and get it, but didn't quite understand how this works. Definitely a smart setup...

    New Battery Config for 265

Any reason you chose to not go with the Add a battery kit from blue seas with the switch and ACR? Assume you wanted to save $ and use existing switches, but what about the ACR? My setup is much simpler with 2 batteries and 1 engine but hate having to constantly switch between batteries...

Recent 228 and pressure washer OK?

Not sure what surface, but I use starbrite non skid deck cleaner on all stains that soap by itself won’t take out. I have been impressed with how nice it works with no real efforr

Starter Relay Test Yamaha OX66 Saltwater Series II

Understood - I need to measure again to see if the 2v drop stands still with new starter battery. Is my thinking wrong that since I am seeing 2v between positive on battery to positive on starter that something between those two points could be my problem, such as a ground cable, positive cable...

    OX66 Oil drip/ leak

Agreed...I always put mine tilted up and to the side so it drips out of that little hole on the bottom. Still not much showing on the bracket but I am going to take the cowel off next time and see how it looks. I was thinking of replacing the cap as well but I do not see any oil showing on...

Starter Relay Test Yamaha OX66 Saltwater Series II

Thanks for the responses! So, I am still researching whether the new starter motor that was installed is pulling too much voltage when it engages or it flagged another issue on my boat that I was not aware of prior to changing the starter. Basically, I turn the key when the battery switch is...

Starter Relay Test Yamaha OX66 Saltwater Series II

@SkunkBoat - Going back to my voltage drop, if I used a jumper cable from my positive terminal on my cranking battery directly to the positive terminal on the starter motor, how can I test to see if I have a voltage drop still? I know when measuring positive on battery to positive on starter...

    OX66 Oil drip/ leak

So far so good with the oil drip. After cleaning underneath everything, I have not seen any oil on the bracket. Now after posting this, I bet I will see it tomorrow morning when I head out fishing.
