Looking for 265 Grady White Expeess

I would call Cataumet Boats in Bourne. I am in the market for a Marlin and when in there buying some service/parts I asked if anything was coming in on consignment or trade. Although no Marlins at the time they had a customer who was going to have a 265 up for sale with twin HPDI's, one with a...

    Plastic Fuel Tanks

One thing to consider on a plastic tank is flex around the sending unit. I have had 2 boats with plastic tanks, a 2005 18' Cape Craft and a 2001 Grady Sportsman, where the plastic tank deformed under the sending unit and bolts corroded and pulled out allowing the tank to drink water. The Cape...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

Today I replaced the injector driver for the engine. Attached are before and after photos of the same plug. The before photo is of the plug after running the boat 10 or so hours variety of conditions. The after it was run for 30min, maybe 10 of that on plane. I agree the injector driver failing...

Boat envy, thinking about a new Marlin 300, have questions.

I have about the same routine as this, boat is in the water 6 months and pulled once or twice for maintenance/fuel/cleaning. If the boat is used regularly I find there is minimal buildup on the bottom. We get out once a week typically and that keeps the growth off, but I guess it is area...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I agree it seems like something I did but for the life of me can’t figure it out. I have spark on all cylinders but no fuel injector activation on 3. The pulse coil fires 2 cylinders at a time it seems so if that was bad I do not think I would see problems isolated to to one whole side, but in...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I know I haven't updated my issue but I am still trying to figure it out. Boat being an hour away and a toddler doesn't help being prompt, but I worked on it this weekend. From my most recent post I replaced plugs, adjusted the neutral switch, and confirmed spark in that cylinder. Back in the...

    Islander bow thruster

That came out great! We are having a small floor repair on our 180 Sportsman next week, I plan on asking the fiberglass guy if he would just do the tube for me on a boat. Looking for a Marlin and most in our price/year range do not have a thruster and we really want one, I will tackle a lot...

Was the leak int he Marlin ever looked at by a marina? Was anyone ever able to determine an area the water could be coming from?

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

No, that one plug was beat up, the others were discolored from combustion but not eaten away like this one. Here is my current theory but it's just that, a theory. Shift linkage was was off causing cylinder 2 & 3 not always to fire. Cylinder 2 plug was fouled and possibly gap bridged causing...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I am going to do some more experimenting with the paper towel trick when I am back at the boat this weekend. New plugs also in that cylinder. Being frugal swapping the injectors requires $30 in non-reusable gaskets. Grand scheme of things thats nothing but still, haha. Seems to be screaming...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I was thinking a stuck injector too when I saw the plug but when compression was good I wasn't sure, but oil injected on its own makes sense. All injectors were all tested and cleaned beginning of this season by FuleInjectorMan.com. I will look into this more before boat goes back into the...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

My terminology is off. Just neutral switch. This video does a good job explaining. I had spark on all cylinders and plugs. I was again ruling out this switch and my father was in the boat shifting and I had a Ohm meter on the contacts. What I found was that when the shifter was in forward...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

The neutral switch on this motor cuts the ignition to cylinder 2 & 3 in neutral and fires all 6 in gear. I guess if there is a fault in the switch it defaults to 4 cylinders all the time, there are a few YouTube videos on it, seems like a common issue. I was curious to if the switch was...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I was trying to tag multiple contributors here but couldn't figure out how, my apologies... So pulled the boat today and started snooping around. Engine seemed to be a little off in the slow ride to ramp, just a few hundred RPMs off front he other one. Still hoping for the neural safety...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I found the manual online and bought the electronic version. Spec for timing is 5 +/-3, 1 at 875 seems way off when the other motor is 8 @ 775. Could something other than the crank positioning sensor do this? 2 degrees out of spec a lot in the opposite direction of the other motor, I imagine...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

This is a link to my dropbox with the YDS readouts when I was trial running in the bay. This was my first time really playing with YDS and I made the recording after running around a few min on each motor and figured I would play around with the readout when I got home. Saw the neutral switch...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

From my OX66's that fuel pressure regulator becoming clogged I think put too much pressure into the fuel rails. It's the end of the loop that puts fuel back into the VST if I understand it correct, but worth checking if the VST ends up back off.

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

I did notice that timing off. I was trying to see how the adjustment worked but google searching did not seem like there was one other than the crank positioning sensor being off. Is there something else that would cause timing to be off, also is 14 vs 19 a lot? I will try and find the...

HPDI 150 Help, RPMs Low (Fixed, Maybe!)

That is a great point but not sure how I would go about checking that. YDS and gauge read the same and when advancing past the 3/4 point of the throttle no response in the motor RPMs or performance. I would say anything is possible but I suspect the gauges are accurate. Another thought I...
