    Engines almost stalling??

I would replace the VST filter and also look at the 3 low pressure fuel pumps. I have at least 2 go out and it would cause the same problem. They are so cheap and we go so far offshore that I just go ahead and replace the pumps every 3 years or so depending on how much we use the boat. I know...

    Boat Cover Color

OK I finally got the cover on correctly. Great cover!

    Winterizing (Lower Unit)

OK sounds like I've been doing it all correctly. Do you crank the engine by hand or just turn the key over?

    Winterizing (Lower Unit)

I keep my boat on a lift all year and have been told that all the water should drain from the engine if not tilted up. Is there any reason to run antifreeze through the outboard engine. Never have and have never had a problem. Additionally, when fogging the engines - removing the spark plugs...

    Boat Cover Color

I finally received the boat cover for my sailfish (boatcoversdirect) and was able to get it on the boat yesterday. Really like the quality and it was easy to work with. Still need to adjust it a bit as it may be a little longer than needed. Contacted the manufacturer and they are going to...

    remote oil tank not pumping

My only suggestion is that if you head way offshore (saltwater) a lot like I do ... you need to make sure to inspect the remote oil pump(s) yearly. If corroded, I'd consider replacing so as to not ruin a day offshore. I carry two one gallon containers of oil just in case one goes out - I can...

    remote oil tank not pumping

Probably the oil pumps. They tend to rust out over time. Good idea to replace them every several years if you are heading way offshore. I keep a 1-2 gallons of oil on board in case we need to pour some into the tank on the engine. That's what we had to do once when one of my oil pumps went...

    Boat Cover Color

Many thanks. I went with the navy blue. Price was about $850 for the 31 ft one (which factors in the pulpit and twin engines.). Should have it in 3-5 days.

Change in new Marlin engine lineup

Don't know if this is a design reason or if this is just the engine they should have had on there. I have a Sailfish with 225 2 stroke and they didn't have 4 stroke in 2000. I've seen those 33s powered with 250's which (I think) is underpowered. My guess is it is a performance issue. Much...

    Boat Cover Color

I'm looking to purchase a boat cover for my sailfish from boatcoversdirect (if I can ever get through to them). What colors have you 'all users and which is the better option for a lift kept boat? I would prefer the navy blue but I heard white might be better.

    99 Sailfish survey advice

Can't recommend anyone but motors are meant to run and storing them for long periods without turning them over once in awhile could pose problems. Did the owner run them now and them? My sailfish has 225 OX66 engines and the run great. Just need to change filters and low pressure fuel pumps...

    Life Raft Placement

We have a valise and just got it inspected in the Spring. They now vacum pack them so the inspection is good for 3 years. Said they couldn't due for if mounted in a case and would need to be inspected every year. I also like being able to take mine off the boat and also when fishing inshore.

    Marlin or Sailfish?

You really can't go wrong with either boat. I have a 272 2000 Sailfish and I love it. Has taken me to and from the East Coast canyons (45-75 miles) many many times over without a problem or worry. Have been in flat calm and huge seas and she has never let me down. In fact, we only once had...

    Marlin Not Tracking Well

While fishing yesterday in 3-5 with 4 sec period - it was hard to keep my Sailfish straight in a following sea. Sometimes when the winds and current are opposite, a boat can be caught in the middle - making it hard to keep on course. I think this would be the case with any boat.

    Replacing Lights with LED's

Have a 272 sailfish and was wondering if anyone has replaced their lights with LED's? Is it an easy job and can you use the same housings? Just wondering it it is worth it. It would also be cool (if they are bright enough) to replace the spreader lights with LED's???? Thanks, David

    Macerator Pump

Ditto on the pics. I just unfroze mine this past weekend. Tends to freeze up. Does Graco have a better system?

    another new grady owner

Although I am thinking of moving up to a 35-36 (due to needing more space), one of the reasons I haven't done so yet is because I LOVE my 272 Sailfish. I have fished it for 10 years off Ocean City - rough & smooth seas, storms, fog etc and it hasn't never let me down. Great boat! Mine is kept...
