    Removing mildew from captain's chairs?

Anyone have some tips and/or tricks for removing mildew from the captain's chairs? My boat sat idle a lot this season because my wife and I moved and had a baby. As such, the captain's chairs got a little nasty in some places. This afternoon, I tried cleaning them with some Soft Scrub w/...

HELP! NEED ADVICE ON PREPS FOR A COLD SNAP!

What's the water temp at your marina? I might be out of line here, but I'm willing to bet that if the water temps are high enough, that will keep the air temps around the boat above freezing and you would have to do anything.

    Spider cracks around drains...

It is also possible that the drains were installed too tight (compressions tool used cases some deflection and the area has been under pressure ever since) and/or they weren't sealed properly and have since allowed water into the transom core and things have started to rot and flex. I would...

    Instrument/switch panel and switch labels

Check out http://www.rowmark.com. I believe they have both laser and rotary engravable stock in simulated woodgrain. Any trophy shop can do the engraving for you so you don't have to worry about finding switch labels. That's what I did on my old 204.

    RADAR ARCH'S (ATLANTIC TOWER)

There's very little strength in that design. There needs to be an inner hoop. That's where the strength and resistance to sway comes from. I personally wouldn't use one of those Atlantic Towers arches even if I wasn't putting rods and a dome on it. Using larger pipe is the cheap way to...

Four Stroke or HPDI Two Stroke?

Hole shot depends a lot on how hard you get on the throttles... My 252G w/ 225 OX66 will hit the moon if I really get on it. However, I much prefer to lower the engines and tabs and ease it and let the boat come up slowly. I think that saves unnecessary wear and tear on the engines.

Four Stroke or HPDI Two Stroke?

Both the 250 HPDI and F250 are gonna add closer to 200 lbs. over your current carbed 200.

    Bracket material

Unless the bracket was made by some no name with zero knowledge of metal, it's gonna be aluminum. Stainless steel would be too heavy, plain steel would rust out too easily and have the same weight issue as stainless. The only materials I've ever seen used in a good bracket are aluminum or...

    General Upkeep, Maintenance

If you ask me, the root cause of the gelcoat chipping is poor lamination. Whatever process they use to make these things results in a weak part. If you look around at as many Gradys as you can, you see that these hatches, fishbox lids, bow pulpits, hardtops, etc are the first to go in terms of...

    bedding hardware

Bingo. :) When I bed somethign using 4000, 4200 or 5200 I wipe up what I can with a dry rag or papertowels. Then I used a cloth dipped in acetone to clean up. If I really want it to look perfect, I dip and old tooth brush in the acetone and scrub around whatever piece of hardware I was...

    grady white hulls

If I'm not mistaken, the written warranty on the hull states 5 years. The Greenwood XL marine plywood coring used in the transom and stringers carries a lifetime warranty against rot through the manufacturer, not Grady. If the transom rots, you get a new core for free, but not necessarily the...

    Update on cabin rod-racks.

That's ridiculous. I'm pretty sure I know who that is and I also know his standards for releasing big fish...which I absolutely applaud. But c'mon, running those dang planar boards is like hogging all the water. I know people will say it's a big Bay out there, but we all know the...

    future grady models...40 ft express

How in the heck is that gonna work? Sounds interesting, but I can't for the life of me think how it could be done other than with rotating lower units which I would imaging would be a big weak point. Either that or incorporate bow thruster control into the design. Either way, I still think...
