    painting grady bracket

If you plan to keep the boat, do yourself a favor and pull it off at least for sand blasting and evaluation. If after it's blasted you find significant amounts of corrosion, just recycle it and get a new bracket. An R-0 from D&D Marine will set you back a mere $700 if you're looking to get off...

1988 Overnighter dash rebuild and bulkhead replacement

Welcome to the site jr. :D Please allow me to offer my rookie-ish glass repairman opinion. :) It looks to me like you should have done a bit more grinding to you bow repair to bevel the edges a bit more. As it is now, you have very little surface area when the new glass meets the old...

    Going to premix

Merc has a special block off plate that needs to be installed where the oil pump was for this to be done correctly. You shouldn't just disconnect the linkage and hoses. That being said, I think if you keep the system clean it's pretty reliable. There is a screen on the bottom of the...

sailfish 252 fuel burn twin 225 ficht 2000's

Anal??? Who me??? It's not like I removed my deck plates, filled in all the holes and redrilled because they were slightly cocked to one side and a line drawn through the center (via 2 of the 6 mounting holes) wasn't perfectly parallel or perpendicular to an edge of the part they were...

    Mystery plastic tray--pics attached

That's definitely not factory. However, if you can somehow keep water from getting down into the bilge from around the hatch and the tray (which would negate the self bailing design of the boat) it would make a nice big storage area. If you can keep it dry though, seal the hatch.

Well, I don't even know what to say at this point. I initially responded to this thread in order to contribute some useful information. I see now that my attempt to help a perspective Sailfish owner have proven to be futile. That being said, my only comments at this point are the...

    looking for gelcoat repair kit

If you're working on a faded part of the hull, you'll get a better color match if you buy straight white gelcoat and tint it with some brown coloring agent.

    Removing mildew from captain's chairs?

You rock Bob!!! Clorox Cleanup did it. I gave the seats a thorough spray down and let them sit for few minutes. When I came back the black stains had turned light brown. I lightly sprayed them again and gave it a few more minutes. Whala...almost no stains left. I then hit them again with a...

You are correct. That's exactly what they said and my insurance co. is well aware of the fact that I'm running 50 HP over the recommended max. :)

    Gradys / F350

Tri-State Marine in Deale, MD had a 232 w/ F350 the last time I was there so it can be done. Can't report how it looked because I didn't pay much attention to it because I've never like the 232.

Maybe certified was the wrong word. I do know that the former owner went though all the necessary steps to get it "approved" for charters. I don't know what that involves, but I know it required some sort of inspection and the power never came up as an issue.

sailfish 252 fuel burn twin 225 ficht 2000's

Re: interesting??? You are correct Jimmy. My rig is rated for twin 200s and currently has twin 225s. She was like that when I bought her, and I knew it. I even signed a disclosure stating that fact. However, before I closed I contacted my insurance co. to make sure they would provide...

    Removing mildew from captain's chairs?

I never thought I would have to ask this question. I figured the acid would have taken those stains right off. Anyway, thanks for the suggestions. I'll let you know how it goes.

My guess is you would be in the neighborhood of 1.6 to 1.9. I have twin 225 OX66s on my '93 Sailfish and I can get 1.7 on flat water at right around 28 mph. They have proven to be pretty darn efficient at cruise, close to my buddies 225 Opti in fact. Do some research on those 225 Fichts. I...
