    Deck Plate replacement

Yep, that's what mine was 2005, 2101 Alaskan. On the SOC, I was known as Knothead.

    Deck Plate replacement

Greyduk, This is the only picture I could find of the Armstrong plate installation on a previous boat. It doesn't show much.

    Deck Plate replacement

I don't have any pictures handy. I replaced all the 6 and 8 inch plates on a previous boat that had the quick-turn type. Each opening was recessed like on my Grady so the Armstrong plate wound up flush and worked like a champ. On the World Cat I had just previous to my Grady, I installed two 10...

    Deck Plate replacement

I have found that the only ones that really remained water tight for me is Armstrong. They fit in the recess where the snap-in collar is screwed down. That is removed and the Armstrong provides a seal on the gelcoat without any ring. https://www.armstrongnautical.com/armstrong-boat-deck-plates/

    Yamaha Prop trueness

I checked out the prop shaft today and it is true, so I called Burris Propeller in Cape Coral Florida. They are in the family of prop shops that use the Rundquist Tool system and are very well thought of down here. The fellow I talked to said that for recreational/sport boat props with a rubber...

    Yamaha Prop trueness

Thanks seasick, I think I can borrow a dial indicator. I have never touched bottom since I've had this motor but that doesn't mean it's not bent. I was not around when the guys were handling it with the forklift during the rigging process. I came to distrust that shop after I saw more of how...

    Ranges and fuel

Everyone has their own way of calculating their fishing range. Here's my thinking for my boat. It's a little guy and only holds 82 gallons of fuel. I find that on a nice day, I can achieve about 3.5 MPG. I know from experience that many times the afternoon wind comes up and can slow me down...

    Yamaha Prop trueness

I got an unused Yamaha Saltwater series prop a few days ago. The prop I moved from my old 2004 3.3L motor is a 15 1/4 X 19 and it was too much for the new 4.2 Liter, due, I think, to the difference in final drive ratio. I got a very good deal on a 15 1/4 X 17 since a guy had bought it for his...

    AutoPilot upgrade from manual hydraulic

I went through the exact same thing on my previous boat. It also had the tilt helm and the same wheel. The way I got mine was this. I tilted the wheel all the way up...….then I positioned myself right up against the wheel and grabbed the wheel rim on opposite sides.... I lifted all I could...

    Flushing a 4.2L Yamaha

I taped them off and started it up. After about 5 seconds I didn't see a pee stream so I chickened out and shut it down. KY Grady, How long does it normally take to get a pee stream on yours. I have a good water flow on the garden hose. 60 psi at the pressure tank. Do you take the screens off...

    Stereo

A friend of mine that has a Luhrs express eliminated his stereo and just has a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. He has music on his smart phone. He said he was tired of dealing with CDs and replacing speakers and salty air corrosion problems. Anyone can play their favorites. Our grand kids do the...

    Livewell Drain Plug Replacement

I can't say for sure. I am the second owner. The drain fitting in the bottom of the tank appears to be white nylon. From what I know of the original owner it is probably the one Grady installed. I can take a picture tomorrow.

    Livewell Drain Plug Replacement

That's the same set up I have. I use the soft vinyl plug. It has a flange at the top that seals if pushed all the way down. If you pull it up a bit you can get some flow out the bottom to help clear the contaminants.

    Livewell Drain Plug Replacement

The screw-in type stand pipe that dictates the overflow level can be left unscrewed a bit so water can also drain out those two "keyways" you spoke of. This help keep the build-up of contaminants harmful to live bait flushed out of the bottom of the tank and improves the longevity of the bait ...
