    Grady Bimini 306

Just an FYI, the F250s have the internal zincs also. Maybe not as many? I have mine replaced every other year at the dealer's recommendation. I don't recall what cost that added to the typical service, but that also means that it probably didn't add too terribly much. Dealer did say that not...

    Sea Anchor

Joe: My previous boat was a 208 and I used (still use) a 60" drift anchor I purchased from Bass Pro. I suggest getting one with a weighted bottom and float-collar top. This keeps it from spinning too badly. Rob

    22 to 228 ride dif.

My wife and I were at the same decision point four years ago. We had our 208 for ten years and I was looking to move to the 228. On the day of the sea trial, the dealer (smartly) brought along a 258. Side-by-side-by-side, in about a 2' chop, the 228 rode incrementally better than our 208. The...

Moving up to Seafarer 228, Engine Advise

Ed: More to consider: The F225 and F250 weigh about the same. The F250 will give considerably better mid-range torque. You also get digital throttle. Trade-off is F250 reqiures 89 octane rather than 87. And the F250 will get slightly worse fuel economy, especially in the mid-range. I have...

    Yamaha F225 hours

I just did the 1000 hour service and it was right at $1,000. The addition beyond the normal service is replace timing belt and adjust valves. By the way, I have 1042 hours on my 2005. It is well maintained and I don't worry about the hours. Better to use it than not, in my opinion. Rob

Grady White 222 Fisherman w/225 or 250 Yamaha 4 Stroke

I believe the 250 will give you a considerably better push in the mid-range of the throttle where the variable valve timing makes itself known. And you get a digital throttle on the newer ones. The trade-off is that the F250 requires 89 octane whereas the 225 only needs 87 octane. For what it...

    Introduction

Welcome to the forum, Bob. I really like the layout of the 228. Great luck and good fishing! Rob

Fuel consumption for Explorer w/single 250 4 stroke?

Stories: Average fishing trip for me is pretty short. Blue water is only a mile or two offshore here. So in the summer I usually run about 14 miles south of the inlet, then zig-zag my way home trolling at about 1200 - 1300 rpm for about 4 hours. Then it is only a couple mile run back to the...

Fuel consumption for Explorer w/single 250 4 stroke?

James: If I recall, the Explorer is a mid '90s 24 footer weighing about 3400 lbs. Not sure you will find too many with with an F250, but I can offer what I get on a 2005 Journey. My boat is 24'9" with an 8'6" beam. Dry weight is about 4100 lbs. The F250 gets me about 27 mph at 4,000 rpm and I...

    272 console hinge

Dan: I replaced mine recently. Unfortunately I paid $22 each from the dealer. I didn't find them anywhere else. Now I'm more aware of keeping the plexiglass lid down when runnning in bumpy water. Rob

Newbie on the scene...1990 Overnighter F200

Bigfoot: Congrats on your Grady. We had an Overnighter for ten years and loved that boat. I hope you enjoy yours as much. By the way, the covered slip is nice! Rob

    Hole

I was just about to write that a friend with a similar problem wound up cutting a new pie plate to get access. I don't know how the heck you got that re-attached! But congratulations! Rob

Fuel burn on 95 263 Chase w/single Yamaha 250 Carb. Saltwate

James: Yamaha has some tests of that boat with an OX66 225 hp that will get you close. You have to look in the archives for the older two-stroke reports. I'll try to paste a link here: http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/pr ... s=outboard Rob

    Hole

That hole is for the through hull fitting for your forward bilge pump. From inside the cabin, pull up the inspection or 'pie' plate on the cabin floor. There should be a bilge pump. That pump is supposed to have a hose running to that hole in the side of your boat. Not having that hose in...
