    Fisherman 222 or Advance 257

Dave: We went from a 1992 Grady Spirit 175 to a 1995 Adventure 208. After ten years with the 208, I wanted to step up to the 228. Dealer brought along a 258 when we test drove the 228. Side by the side, the 258 had a considerably better ride. It was my wife who was most adamant about getting the...

    voyager/journey

kaiyasdad: I'm a bit biased, but, nice boat! The hull you're looking at is the same as my boat, except my 2005 running bottom extends all the way to the transom and your 2002 has a 'notched transom'. Yours also would have the rear seat built into the transom whereas mine has a fold down seat...

    Underpowered? 208 Adventure

We had a 1995 208 with a two-stroke 150 for ten years. Not underpowered for most of my use. Only time I really felt the need for more power was with four scuba divers and all our tanks and gear. For most of my use, a couple of guys fishing or the family snorkeling or diving, the 150 was great. I...

    Grady White Chase 246 Recon

Captain Joe: Pretty, pretty boat. if I recall, Grady introduced this boat as the 246, then quickly relabelled it as the 263. So you must have one of the earliest hulls? Welcome to the forum! Rob

    247 w/ 250 performance

nedarb: I have nearly the same hull, but in a walk around version which weighs a bit more. The only difference in the hull is that the 247 has a notched transom. The 248/258 eliminated the notch and ran the bottom all the way back to the transom. An F250 pushes my boat well. It gets up on...

    Yamaha Trim Meter Problem

Larry: I had a similar problem with a simple fix that may work for you. There is a little spring-loaded sensor between the engine and the mounting bracket on the starboard side. trim the engine all the way up and you should see it. It may be stuck. Move it back and forth a few times to loosen it...

    Trim Tab Pump/Motor

Guido: You can also chat with "Tabman" (from Bennet) on 'thehulltruth.com'. Tabman is very helpful. Rob

    What mounting hole?

I have read the same from a umber of different sources; the anti-cavitation plate should be visible while on plane. At least on my boat, while on plane with the motor trimmed such that the prop (more importantly, the direction of thrust) is level with the water, the plate just skims the...

Anyone familar with the Bahamas West end?

GradyX: Three choices come to mind: 1. Old Bahama Bay is a full-service, upscale resort and marina on the very tip of west end. You can clear customs and get fuel there. 2. Blua Marlin Cove is about another three mile run from west end on the south side of the island. Very fishing...

bigk23surf and dduflo: Any chance you can add some pictures of your set-up? Tx, Rob

    Seafarer Performance

kendcc: Grady's website says they get the same combo up to 43 mph at 5900 rpm under "optimum conditions". So what you describe sounds pretty reasonable for a loaded boat with bottom paint. Rob

    Where does the water go?

sfc: If your boat is same as my friend's 1987 204C, that box is the anchor locker. His drains to the bilge. If yours is not draining, there is likely a blockage and water is collecting somewhere. Best to try to figure that out. Rob

    No Longer Gradyless

Congrats on a nice boat! A tip: trim the engines up just a bit when in reverse. Otherwise thrust bounces off the hull. Instead, you want the thrust directed to just beneath the hull. Rob

What battery do you have for your four stroke?

I went with West Marine brand group 27 AGMs. Powerboat Reports rated them 'above average' and they were on sale for half-off. Been very happy with them for two years. Rob

    Grady shopping is difficult

Snapper: The 247/248 models do not have the running surface extending all the way to the transom. As was said, it is an integrated bracket design. Grady called them both 24' boats in 2001. I have not ridden in that hull. For the 2003 model year the running bottom was extended to the transom...

    I went with the Marlin!

Congrats on the Marlin! I also use a 4208. I think garmin's user interface is among the best. And they seem to be good about continually updating and improving the software. I like the fact that I can superimpose XM weather on the navigation screen. Some that I looked at didn't do that nearly...
